Notes

Unused Texts

Entering the House Harkonnen ends the game. There are three characters present: the Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, Feyd-Rautha and Emperor Shaddam IV. Under normal circumstances, it's not possible to directly speak with them; however, there is a way around this via a bug or a hex editor. If the House Harkonnen is changed to Sietch or any other place, it is now possible to speak with the three characters as enemies to prevent activating the final scene as normal. It is impossible to ask any of them to follow you.

Undocumented Demo Recording Function

Running duneprg.exe with the command line argument REC allows the player to record their actions in the game. Running the same executable with the argument DEM plays the recording back. This appears to have been removed in the CD version.

Revisional Differences

Hmmm...
To do:
Add more details regarding the differences between the floppy disk and CD versions.

The game would later be rereleased by Virgin on CD with the addition of cutscenes taken from David Lynch's film adaptation Dune.

  • A brand-new full-motion video intro for the CD version replaces the previous intro from the floppy disk version.
  • The music that plays during the intro was changed from "Sign of the Worm" to "Chani's Eyes".
  • New animated cutscenes have been added for the travel sequences with the ornithopter and sandworm.
