Excitebike 64 is well...Excitebike on the Nintendo 64.

Hmmm...
To do:
  • Document the Demo version of the game. Source
  • The Not For Resale version contains some differences.
  • Wii U Virtual Console version has a LOT of patch files in /content/Patch/UNMXE1.683/. Please figure out what was patched and list it in revisional differences.
  • Compare both the original and Nintendo Switch versions.

Hidden Text

Present at the end of the ROM is an unused string of text that is repeated many times to pad out the ROM.

Please don't copy this game... that would be rude. Hey!
What are you doing looking at this binary when you should be
looking after my shed?

Debug Mode

Hmmm...
To do:
Screenshot of the crash report screen.

EB64-debugcoords.png

To enable the debug mode, hold L, C-Down, C-Right, and press A while in the main menu to access the cheat menu. Enter IMGOINGNOW as a cheat and the debug mode will be enabled. This will display Player 1's coordinates at the top left of the screen during gameplay. If the game crashes, it will display a crash report screen.

Regional Differences

North America/Europe Japan
EB64-n64u.png EB64-n64j.png

The North American and European versions of the game use the N Sports logo at the startup. The Japanese version of the game just uses the regular Nintendo 64 logo.

The Japanese version of the game has a different logo on the title screen.

EB64-optionsu.png EB64-optionsj.png EB64-optionsc.png

Since the Japanese version of the game removes Expansion Pak support, the Hi-Res setting in the options was replaced with the cheat menu. In addition to that, the iQue version also has different branding on the title background due to the expiring brand licenses.
