Hmmm...
To do:
  • Version differences: PS4 & Xbox One version uses the previously unused shaders
  • Add info about how to reactivate the Spines power
  • Unused shaders
  • Jet
  • Sniper unit
  • Unused weapon
  • Unused Captain Cross model
  • Rain system
  • Scrapped Hunter riding upgrade
  • And many more...

Prototype is, in fact, the name of this game, which is rather unfortunate due to causing trouble for people searching online for prototype versions of games. In this Prototype, your primary mission is to eat people.

Test Level Configurations

You can load one of four test levels by modifying your launch options. Add a new line with Level= followed by one of these names (eg. “Level=manhattanTest”):

  • manhattanTest: Starts the game with all upgrades unlocked, no missions, and no infected or military.
  • Millitary_Test: Every space that can hold a base is held by the military.
  • Infected_Test: Similar to Military_Test, except godmode is enabled and the enemies at the hive you spawn in front of won't target you.
  • empty_e3: Similar to manhattanTest, but with no AI, vehicles, or other characters at all. You spawn in an empty city.

Unused Powers

Chameleonic

The Chameleonic power would've presumably made Alex invisible to the military and infected forces. One image and a few strings related to this power can be found in the game files:

Spines

The Spines are a scrapped defensive power with no icon, transformation animations, or sounds. They deal 10 reflect damage to attackers.

This function seems to be unfinished because it renders the attacker invincible when their health gets too low.
