"Surprise, more content I've been sitting on. Was the Hulk/Terminator boss changed?" I'm pretty sure the Hulk changes. If I still remember correctly, the boss that throws cars gets greener and greener the more damage it eats. On its last hits, it explodes and resembles the Terminator. This was changed in later versions. If I really had to mention what color the boss changes to in the other version(s), I think my memories are telling me "pink". {EspyoT} 13:13, 15 March 2012 (EDT)

I checked it out in every version of the game and nope, the boss appears to be the same in all of them. --Rabidabid 18:24, 15 March 2012 (EDT)

Okay, my REV01 ROM displays the red/blue Spider-Man for some reason. So either Sega Retro is wrong, or my ROM is botched for some reason. I used the code FFFF21:0011 to jump straight to the boss fight. (I admit I don't know much about this game.)

I guess it would make more sense to put out a revision acknowledging a copyright they forgot than it would be to just insert the copyrighted character? Also, Sega put out a few Spider-Man games in 1991, but Kingpin didn't come out till 1993, about 4 years after Shinobi. Was this game still in production by then? I dunno whether to trust the release years mentioned on the Sega Retro article because it says REV03 came out in 1990, but the 6-Pak came out in 1996. And the dates in the ROM header are all the same.

Basically I'm just confused by the Sega Retro article (edit: or the Wikipedia article, which the Versions section on the Retro page seems to be copy pasted from). --Rabidabid 18:24, 15 March 2012 (EDT)

Well that sucks. And I don't see how we can get any correct answers... {EspyoT} 20:33, 15 March 2012 (EDT)

Just wondering, why do you guys keep calling the different versions as "REV00, REV01 and REV02"? That's just how GoodGen renamed them, not something official, and it doesn't even rename them like that anymore... --ICEknight 15:59, 16 May 2012 (EDT)

Old habits, I guess? What are we supposed to call them, then? --BMF54123 16:58, 16 May 2012 (EDT)
I think just "version" would be more correct, since "REV" is not an official term for these... and it's not even a word.--ICEknight 08:21, 17 May 2012 (EDT)
Also, a reason for just ditching the term revision altogether would be that the first version can't be a "revision" by definition, yet all of them are "versions".--ICEknight 08:30, 17 May 2012 (EDT)

Shinobi distribution

Is it really true that only Japan received Revenge of Shinobi 1.00? Because quite a few Americans on various forums have reported finding the original (with Batman and Rambo) on American-issued carts.

Furthermore, one post in particular seems to suggest that Japan got at least one of the later revisions.

O: Just pick up the Japanese verson "The Super Shinobi." Spiderman/Batman/Godzilla will be on every copy. R: Err no it won't. I have a Japanese version of the Super Shinobi and it's the second revision.
