Prerelease Screenshots

I think maybe you missed this exception to the "no prerelease screenshots" rule:

A prerelease screenshot or video that shows how something that can still be found in the game's code was originally going to be used.

--BMF54123 16:07, 16 April 2013 (EDT)

That wasn't exactly my point. Okay, maybe the delete template went too far, but they were still JPGs, you have to admit that. --AquaBat 16:11, 16 April 2013 (EDT)
Many prerelease screenshots are only available in JPEG format, especially ones that were copied from other websites, e.g. IGN. We can't magically turn them into PNGs and/or remove watermarks, so we have to make exceptions for them. Perhaps I need to clarify this in the rules a little better? --BMF54123 23:06, 16 April 2013 (EDT)

Could you please cut back on the backseat moderating a bit, and let the admins handle disputes and rule breakers? Thanks. --BMF54123 21:46, 19 April 2013 (EDT)

If you're talking about that last thing I said, I was just stating my opinion that the argument was pointless, I didn't even post on the talk page... --AquaBat 23:49, 19 April 2013 (EDT)
I feel inclined to point [[Talk:Proto:WWF_SmackDown!|this]] out as well, since you edited it today. This is a prime example of what I'm talking about.
We don't have any rules stating that if you want to contribute something, you MUST edit the game's page and add it yourself, so kindly knock it off. Thanks. --BMF54123 18:24, 2 May 2013 (EDT)
It was only an opinion, but fine, I'll back off. --AquaBat 18:50, 2 May 2013 (EDT)

M&L BIS

I think the first is definitly worth mentioning in the article, its an unused behaviour! --Hiccup 11:59, 10 May 2013 (EDT)

Uh, exactly what are you talking about? The Naplock's attack against Mario and Luigi? --AquaBat 16:51, 10 May 2013 (EDT)
Oh, you meant the first thing on my userpage, with the Nooz and Fawflants. I suppose so. --AquaBat 19:22, 10 May 2013 (EDT)

Re: Object's page

Thanks for the move, was about to tackle it myself. I'm keeping it separate from the photograph one due to the NSFW nature of that one, and the fact it's going to have a lot more content...for a game with as many breakable items in its folders, 80% of them are never seen. Never mind the fx...or the texture remnants...or the icons @_@

Splatterhouse is sadly the definition of "Development hell".--Kung Fu Man 22:32, 1 June 2013 (EDT)

That's fine. I understand. --AquaBat 22:34, 1 June 2013 (EDT)

M&L BIS Codes

On your userpage you mention a Moon jump code. Where did you get it from? Do you have any others? Thanks, I'd appriciate any codes, so I can mess around and hopefully find something.--Hiccup 15:52, 2 August 2013 (EDT)

Well, I just searched for Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story AR codes, and the Moon Jump was one of them. I'm assuming you're looking for the same codes, so there's two options:
1) I can give you the two or three codes I have, or
2) I can retrace my steps to see where I found them specifically, if you want. --AquaBat 19:36, 2 August 2013 (EDT)
Retrace your steps please :P. --Hiccup 11:20, 13 August 2013 (EDT)
Here. Scroll past some of the bogus and incredibly obvious "cheats" and you'll find a post with a bunch of Action Replay codes for the US version. --AquaBat 12:32, 13 August 2013 (EDT)
So you used moonjump to view the unused enemy attacks? --Hiccup 11:49, 14 August 2013 (EDT)
Yes, you can use it to jump over the boulders blocking the train tracks running through the underground, allowing you to get to the Underground Tunnel, and to jump into the secret entrance to Peach's Castle. --AquaBat 20:53, 14 August 2013 (EDT)

Kid Icarus: Uprising

I added the info to the official uprising page, if that's all right. Thanks for your help! Robotortoise 19:25, 13 August 2013 (EDT)

Okay, so....uh....I guess I wasn't supposed to move that page. If you want to remove it, be my guest. Again, sorry. (I'm REALLY not getting the hang of this wikia.)Robotortoise 23:54, 13 August 2013 (EDT)

Sorry About That

I didn't realize that I removed PPLToast's reply. The site kept having errors and I would keep refreshing the page. I must have taken it out without thinking about it when I was constantly refreshing the page. Sorry about that. I didn't mean to. --Cuber456 (talk)

Proto vs. Beta in Filenames

It's not really necessary to rename images that contain "beta" in the filename. As long as they include the game title and follow the rest of the guidelines, that's all that really matters. --BMF54123 (talk) 18:59, 4 October 2013 (EDT)

Ah, okay. I just assumed that the rule of its use in the articles themselves also applied to filenames. My bad. --AquaBat (talk) 22:41, 4 October 2013 (EDT)
Honestly, I WOULD consider applying the rule to filenames as well, but a) they're typically hidden from view when reading an article, b) we already have a large number of filenames with "beta" in the title, and c) filenames are such an inconsistent, disorganized mess that it seems rather pointless to apply such a rule (the one rule we DO enforce--adding the game title--is mostly done to prevent filename collisions). --BMF54123 (talk) 15:21, 5 October 2013 (EDT)

Edit Summaries

Please be civil in your edit summaries and politely explain further on someone's talk page if you have a concern with what they're doing! It helps prevent drama and edit wars. --GlitterBerri (talk) 22:34, 28 October 2013 (EDT)

Possessive apostrophes

Apparently, both "Tails'" and "Tails's" are correct. The CMOS does prefer the latter, according to that link, but I don't think it's something worth having an aneurysm over. -- Pompolic (talk) 18:02, 21 December 2013 (EST)

I was mostly just joking. Grammar-obsessive as I am, even I wouldn't really overreact like that over something as simple as possessive apostrophes. I do appreciate you bringing this to my attention, however. I honestly didn't realize that both are correct. --AquaBat (talk) 19:06, 21 December 2013 (EST)
No problem, and I'm sorry I misjudged your tone. -- Pompolic (talk) 19:08, 21 December 2013 (EST)
Just passing through, but I tend to use just the apostrophe – i.e., "Jess' userpage". As I was taught it, if the name ends in anything other than S, use 's; if it ends in S, use just an apostrophe. That's just me, though. -WarioBarker (talk) 04:30, 23 December 2013 (EST)
For consistency, I think I'd prefer we leave off the S (plus it just looks weird and excessive in some cases, e.g. "Ness's"). --BMF54123 (talk) 14:56, 23 December 2013 (EST)
Alright, that's fine with me. --AquaBat (talk) 22:32, 23 December 2013 (EST)

Prerelease Pages

The "Prerelease pages need a mainspace article" is under discussion. Please sit tight until we figure something out. --GlitterBerri (talk) 23:51, 27 December 2013 (EST)

Sorry, I didn't know that. I simply added that note for the sake of clarity. --AquaBat (talk) 00:00, 28 December 2013 (EST)
I believe it isn't a problem if you create your sticker star article under userspace. --Hiccup (talk) 05:14, 28 December 2013 (EST)

PM: Sticker Star - Help

I am willing to answer any questions about the final game you may have. --Hiccup (talk) 11:16, 20 January 2014 (EST)

Backseat Modding

Could you please tone down the backseat modding a bit and let the administrators discipline other users? You've been doing this a LOT in your edit summaries, and it needs to stop. --BMF54123 (talk) 22:32, 20 May 2014 (EDT)

I suppose that I have gone too far at times. I apologize. I understand how it feels when people make your job all the more difficult. --AquaBat (talk) 01:06, 21 May 2014 (EDT)

Don't remove it (MKDs chain chomp

I added it because its real prupose is to be the music of the chain chomp item (see the prototype). Undo it if you want, Im not goint to writte it again!

We don't really care. If the track was actually USED in-game, we're not going to speculate on how they MIGHT have originally intended to use it. That's not what this site is for. --BMF54123 (talk) 16:06, 26 July 2014 (EDT)

Imperfect placement

In the D&P article the sis and bro sprite (although looks familiar to me as I've played through Diamond a ton, I guess I just notice the two of them seperately) is at the left while the other ones are in the middle. Should we move it to the comparison thing and in the used spot put something like it is unused so there is no used sprite, or just make it so it looks centered, or make a comparison chart with only 'unused'? It just looks like crap...its fine if we cant center it. thx

You wrote the SSB4 page description, correct?

Well it's really funny, but apparently you COULD beat up the Duck Hunt dog in Duck Hunt VS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0mx9dO3BxI So uh.....hm. Seru-kun18 told me that. Robotortoise (talk) 14:52, 6 October 2014 (EDT)

Actually, N. Onymous wrote the current description. I merely tweaked the original description slightly before it was rewritten. And yes, I was aware of that, but I really didn't care enough to change it. -AquaBat (talk) 22:54, 6 October 2014 (EDT)
Okay. Thanks for editing it. :) Your descriptions are the best, AuquaBat. Robotortoise (talk) 01:56, 7 October 2014 (EDT)

Luigi's Mansion 2 - Unused Audio

I have put together an archive of Luigi's Mansion streams that I think may be unused. http://www.mediafire.com/download/xiggh656ypqeobr/LM2+Maybe+Unused.7z --Hiccup (talk) 09:30, 13 November 2014 (EST)

I'll look through them once I download them on my computer. --AquaBat (talk) 11:14, 13 November 2014 (EST)
Thanks.

ORAS question - Intentional Oddities in Games

I am certain that we do not document it, but what do we do if there is an intentional oddity in a game? Specifically, one of the Elite Four rooms has a model loaded when you talk to Phoebe or so. (For a better explanation...) Anyways, even if the full model is difficult to see and not fully shown, we do not mention this, correct? --Sgv Sth (talk) 04:57, 12 December 2014 (EST)

That model may already be used somewhere else in the game (or maybe it's from XY), but I don't think we need to cover it, because it's shown that way on purpose, and the full model technically IS seen for, like, one frame. --AquaBat (talk) 16:16, 12 December 2014 (EST)

I've sent you a PM on Jul.

I thought you'd like to know :P. --Hiccup (talk) 08:02, 12 December 2014 (EST)

Edit Summaries and Backseat Modding redux

You have been asked before to be civil in your edit summaries and to not backseat mod. Your two recent edits to the Team Fortress 2 page are not civil and are backseat modding. Please remember to be civil and to leave moderation to the administrators. Thank you. Bast (talk) 16:45, 4 July 2015 (EDT)

You know, you could've just linked it like this rather than using the full URL. In fact, it's on the same page, you really didn't have to link it at all.
Also, while admittedly the second edit may not have been necessary, I fail to see how the first edit was "not civil" or "backseat modding" at all. I was removing something that was used, that's all. --AquaBat (talk) 17:27, 4 July 2015 (EDT)
I have blocked you for three hours for ignoring repeated warnings from admins not to do the things I mentioned above, as well as for being so rude in your response to me. I and the other administrators appreciate the effort you put in to TCRF, but please remember to be civil towards other users (no matter if they're newly registered or an admin). Thank you. Bast (talk) 14:47, 5 July 2015 (EDT)
How was that response "rude" at all? I was just making a comment! --AquaBat (talk) 19:52, 5 July 2015 (EDT)

Pokemon Rumble World Page

Sorry for taking the page from you. I didn't know you were already planning on making the page. Though I don't think you can "call" pages. Anyways, your help is appreciated. Also, there are at least two other Pokemon forms you missed: Xerneas' active form and AZ's Floette.Blazingflare (talk) 06:57, 11 September 2015 (EDT)

Eh, it's fine, I admit I kind of overreacted with the passive-aggressiveness and such. I got the info a long time ago, so I suppose someone found a few more placeholders after then. Did you go through the game yourself or did you have an outside source? --AquaBat (talk) 12:13, 11 September 2015 (EDT)
A bit of both actually. I extracted my save and used the save editor made for it and poked around myself a bit. If it will make it easier for you to get your research on the game, here is a link to said save editor. Blazingflare (talk) 16:26, 11 September 2015 (EDT)
Thanks, I'll check it out. --AquaBat (talk) 18:14, 11 September 2015 (EDT)

Aqua/Orange Souls

Heya. I believe those four files from the to-do that you had removed, "spr_heartaqua_0 + spr_heartaqua_1" and "spr_heartorange_0 + spr_heartorange_1" are, indeed, unused. The 6 human souls are stored under the filename of "spr_allsoul_0" through "spr_allsoul_5". These four files are labeled as the Soul modes are. The other 5 soul modes - red, blue, green, purple, and yellow - are called "spr_heart_0", "spr_heartblue_d_0", "spr_heartgreen_0", "spr_heartpurple_0", and "spr_heartyellow_0" respectively, each having a darker frame (which the soul switches between after taking damage) and blue+yellow having extra frames (blue for all directions, yellow for being flipped upsidedown). "spr_heartaqua_0 + spr_heartaqua_1" and "spr_heartorange_0 + spr_heartorange_1" are labeled as the soul modes are, with corresponding darker frames. Since their filename suggests there'd be a aqua and orange soul mode, I count them as unused. --Kayya (talk) 17:59, 5 December 2015 (EST)

Well, that's egg on my face. I just automatically assumed based on the colors. I wasn't even considering that the soul modes would have different filenames from the human souls. You're the one looking through filenames, so if you say it's not used, then it's not used. Sorry about that. --AquaBat (talk) 22:55, 5 December 2015 (EST)

Incivility in Edit Summaries Redux Part Deux

Hello, you have been blocked for 12 hours for repeatedly ignoring admin's requets to be civil in your edit summaries. Specifically, this concerns this edit. In the future, please feel free to politely point new users to the rules and/or help pages. Please also be civil in your edit summaries, as well as being descriptive. "No", is not civil, and it does not explain (to a new user especially) why you are reverting an edit. -- Bast (talk) 02:43, 8 December 2015 (EST)

Pokemon XY Page

Not going to start an edit war on the page itself, but it really doesn't make any sense for the shiny variants to be included when they're available through as common of an in-game scenario as trading. Should every one of these Pokemon be on the page as well?

http://www.serebii.net/xy/unobtainable.shtml

DangItBobby (talk) 20:01, 31 July 2016 (EDT)

First of all, I specifically didn't add any pictures of their Shiny colorings because of this. It was meant to stay as a brief note.
Second, I specifically mentioned in that section that Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres cannot be both Shiny and native to Kalos at the same time, which is noteworthy, as being both cannot occur through normal gameplay. Anything that can't occur through normal gameplay can be included on a page. Being Legendaries, they cannot be bred from Eggs like the Pokémon on that page, so you can't just breed a Kalos native Shiny Articuno like how you can breed a Kalos native Totodile. The only way to get a Shiny Articuno is to transfer it from previous games in the series. But then it won't be native to Kalos.
Aside from that, the Shiny locks are also something to mention, as it ties into the aforementioned fact that it can't be found as Shiny in Kalos through normal gameplay. Do you understand my point now? --AquaBat (talk) 01:49, 1 August 2016 (EDT)
I get the train of thought but it still doesn't make sense. Just because it's an in-game scenario that's not possible doesn't mean it's an in-game scenario that's unused. For instance, it's not noteworthy to mention that Articuno can't learn Flamethrower, or that Kalos Pokemon can't be wearing ribbons from Diamond/Pearl. Same as Kalos nativity they're just a couple of bits of data that apply to all Pokemon the same way. DangItBobby (talk) 05:17, 1 August 2016 (EDT)
Those things are not the same as this. This is the game deliberately preventing you from catching this Pokémon as a Shiny. That makes it noteworthy. --AquaBat (talk) 14:37, 1 August 2016 (EDT)

ORAS Floette

Is the Eternal Floette actually seen/used in ORAS in some way? All I saw with a quick search was the flower bit underneath a tree in Sootopolis(?), so if that's the only instance then we should restore the model render to the page. -Ehm (talk) 11:49, 22 November 2016 (EST)

We don't really need a model render if we already have an image of how it appears to players when it's hacked in. That's why I removed it. Besides that, it's pretty much just a texture recolor of a normal Floette model. --AquaBat (talk) 01:41, 25 November 2016 (EST)

No need to ask VGHF for their SimCity NES dump!

It's there in the archive.org link they posted! :) --Hiccup (talk) 12:46, 25 December 2018 (EST)

yeah I was just about to edit. they apparently have a prototype though so that might be worth looking into —AquaBat (talk) 12:48, 25 December 2018 (EST)
nah they just have one (near-final ish) ROM (from two carts), but they do have some prerelease images of older builds on the page. --Hiccup (talk) 12:55, 25 December 2018 (EST)

M&L BIS Bowser special attacks

What did you mean by this: "Bowser can hit flying enemies with his special attacks (specifically Goomba Storm and Magikoopa Mob). Do they work on these flying enemies?". --Hiccup (talk) 06:00, 28 January 2019 (EST)

I thought it was obvious. Goomba Storm and Magikoopa Mob can hit flying enemies. It’s not called upon often because Bowser doesn’t fight many flying enemies, but try it against Dark Fawful and the Vacuum Helmet and you’ll see. A lot of the descriptions in that section boil down to “This enemy floats so Bowser can’t hit it.” But if the player used Goomba Storm or Magikoopa Mob, they could potentially hit it, so unless using those attacks on those enemies crashes the game (unlikely), claiming that Bowser can’t hurt them outright wouldn’t be accurate. I would imagine that Koopa Corps and Bob-omb Blitz don’t work as those attacks are grounded, and I haven’t tested Shy Guy Squad or Broggy Bonker to know for sure if those work. —AquaBat (talk) 15:24, 28 January 2019 (EST)
Ah sorry, I somehow missed the word "these". --Hiccup (talk) 06:07, 29 January 2019 (EST)

Elf Bowling 1 & 2 ds/gba licensing

I don't think these should be categorised as "unlicensed", as those categories are for games that aren't licensed by the owner of the platform. --Hiccup (talk) 16:36, 31 October 2019 (EDT)

There really isn’t any other option to categorize them, the ports themselves existing is copyright theft. Not litigated, but still theft according to the original creator. The fact that it presumably passed a lot check is simply an oversight. —AquaBat (talk) 10:17, 1 November 2019 (EDT)
Throwing in my two cents, yes they may have been unauthorized ports (though a quick check shows that NStorm is properly credited in both versions). but in the end Nintendo slapped its Official Seal onto both. -WarioBarker (talk) 21:43, 1 November 2019 (EDT)

Sticker Star prerelease page

Hi. Do you mind if I move your Sticker Star prerelease page to mainspace, as you haven't edited it for quite a while? I might improve it a bit sometime soon. --Hiccup (talk) 20:59, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

Sure, go ahead, don’t think I’ll be making any more progress on it myself. —AquaBat (talk) 19:57, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
