Image Guidelines

JPEG files are not allowed on this wiki. Please read the image guidelines. --BMF54123 18:13, 23 February 2013 (EST)

Please do not upload box art as a title screen image. --GoldS 21:24, 5 April 2013 (EDT)

You might also want to categorize your images during the uploading process. --From: divingkataetheweirdo 20:13, 11 April 2013 (EDT)
You uploaded a *ton* of images without any categorization whatsoever. You also forgot to add the game's name to the files, so there's no naming confusion. Please don't forget either of these. Thank you for reading and I really hope you actually read the image guidelines linked above.--From: divingkataetheweirdo 15:41, 23 July 2013 (EDT)
Images need to be taken at the game's/console's native resolution, and tagged with the name of the console they were taken from. Again, please read the image guidelines! --BMF54123 16:48, 10 August 2013 (EDT)
Could you please make sure that ripped graphics are actually in PNG format, and not just renamed BMP images. -- Einstein95 (talk) 15:12, 22 August 2013 (EDT)
Please retake your Animal Forest screenshots at 320x240 as per the image guidelines. --BMF54123 (talk) 18:22, 8 October 2013 (EDT)
By "retake" I mean retake them from the emulator, not resize them in an image editing program. --BMF54123 (talk) 18:37, 8 October 2013 (EDT)
Look, I'm not going to tell you again: screenshots need to be TAKEN at native resolution, not RESIZED to native resolution. If you keep ignoring this rule I'm going to block you again. --BMF54123 (talk) 19:06, 8 October 2013 (EDT)

Alternative question: what emulator are you using and how are you actually taking the screenshots? - Andlabs (talk) 19:09, 8 October 2013 (EDT)

Like this:

Behindthescenesanimalforest.png
Do I really have to retake every picture? It looks the same either way. --Lemurboy12 (talk) 19:15, 8 October 2013 (EDT)

I expect all users to follow the guidelines equally. And yes, it does matter, because it can affect the image quality. --BMF54123 (talk) 19:19, 8 October 2013 (EDT)
I've been retaking the last few, and either way it looks the same. --Lemurboy12 (talk) 19:21, 8 October 2013 (EDT)

DS NTR

Could you please reupload the Nintendo DS NTR Debug Cartridge‎ to a site like MediaFire? The only download links I could find for it are on MegaUpload, which was taken down by the US government. --AttackedbyGlitch 13:21, 8 August 2013 (EDT)

Image Tagging Redux

I feel like I'm talking to a wall here, but you really need to remember to tag your images with the console they came from, even if the game is multi-platform. --BMF54123 15:10, 12 August 2013 (EDT)

Spongebob LCP pak files

Could you tell me what did you use to decompress/access them... i need to look at the files...? -- JeanMich02 17:55 2013-08-15

Game Extractor can extract all the textures from the .pak files. Alternatively, you can use these scripts on the PS2 version: http://ps23dformat.wikispaces.com/Jimmy+Neutron+Attack+of+the+Twonkies

Editing

Please use the Show Preview button before saving your edits so that you don't create multiple edits for minor errors. --Xk-sig.png Xkeeper (talk) 15:23, 16 August 2013 (EDT)

Yeah I'm sorry, I just think extremely quickly and try to get things done as fast as possible. If I make a mistake or if I don't like the way I worded something, I instantly go back to fix it. Lemurboy12
We have a bot that reports wiki edits in IRC. Every time you make a minor edit, it spits out a bunch of lines, so it's really annoying when you make lots of small edits in a row. Just slow down and think about what you're adding before you add it, that's all we ask. --BMF54123 16:09, 16 August 2013 (EDT)

Bad Filenames

Why do you continue to use filenames that blatantly disregard the naming guidelines? You need to include the game name in ALL filenames, not just images. --BMF54123

DK64 Models

What program(s) did you use to rip/view those DK64 models? --M64m (talk) 13:10, 7 November 2013 (EST)

I actually ripped them straight from the emulator with 1964 and the Lemmy's Nemu64 Graphics plugin, and got them to show up using runehero's codes. --Lemurboy12 (talk) 13:12, 7 November 2013 (EST)

Regarding ripping graphics

I have no clue how to rip graphics from things like GameCube games. PC Games like any Source Engine game; yes, but GameCube? Nope! How do you extract content from the ISO of the game (is it just opening it like it's a ZIP file with WinRAR)? 404: User Not Found (talk) 20:05, 5 December 2013 (EST)

You'll need a tool like Dolphin (which is also the emulator of choice) or GameCube Rebuilder. -Einstein95 (talk) 20:51, 5 December 2013 (EST)
Every game is different. Some have files I can easily just open and rip, while others require actually ripping it from in-game. --Lemurboy12 (talk) 21:02, 5 December 2013 (EST)
I have the Dolphin emulator, it's how I'm currently playing Animal Crossing. I've just not seen any option for ripping graphics :\ 404: User Not Found (talk) 21:09, 5 December 2013 (EST)

Arse barns! How did I not notice that? 404: User Not Found (talk) 22:43, 5 December 2013 (EST)
Turns out I don't like this method of texture dumping, via Dolphin. Dumps everything as TGAs, only dumps stuff you see in the game, and gives everything weird names, so I can't tell what file is what until I open it up in Photoshop. 404: User Not Found (talk) 23:20, 5 December 2013 (EST)

Taking Screenshots

A lot of screenshots you've uploaded recently do not match their respective console's native resolution (your Frogger GBC shots are 145px tall, for example). You need to use the emulator's built-in screenshot function, not PrintScreen and crop the entire window. --BMF54123 (talk) 19:44, 14 March 2014 (EDT)

A request

You've made a lot pages on Spongebob games lately, and so I was wondering if you could look into one game you haven't done yet: Spongebob Sqaurepants: Employee of the Month, as I assume you own it. I played it alot as a kid and after looking at all these Spongebob pages, I began to wonder if there was any unused content in it. Revenge of the Flying Dutchman misplaced oddity

I have no knowledge what so ever about camera editing, but I was watching a speedrun of this game by Coel Udd when I noticed after he went out of bounds that you can see a Flying Dutchman model flying in the distance. He managed to be able to interact with it once I asked him about it and you are able to stand on his hand, but nothing else. This is on the world that you access right after exiting Spongebob's house. I just feel as if this should be documented on the page if you get the time. Thank you! --D3adKn1f3rRKS (talk) 19:01, 7 April 2015 (EDT)

I used Dragon Unpacker and that worked. The palettes on some BMPs are messed up, but since it looks like with some of the games they did lots of overlaying to show scaling and motion the palette is probably in the static image. That or I can just fix it myself. For reference, here's a list of the Sesame Street games I have that use that type of .CON packing:
  • Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland
  • Get Set to Learn!
  • Let's Make A Word
  • Elmo's Preschool (Original and Deluxe)

Viewing models from Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (DS)

Hello, I was wondering, how did you rip the models from the DS version of Mario & Sonic: ATOG? I know that RAM dumps are needed, but after doing this and trying with Apicula, the models come out with broken textures (look like a bunch of completely random pixels, though resolution looks normal), even though everything else appears intact. I also tried MKDS Course Modifier 4.0 (called "last" version) but it gives me a "TexOffset is not 0!" error.

.h4m Files

I noticed in a previous revision of the Pokémon Channel page that you added the unused .h4m videos found on the Japanese disc. If the games can work offline, then the tag is not needed. The tag is largely meant for games that can't function without an external server (e.g. an MMORPG that requires a connection to a server to work). When the developers wanted each code to be separate from the executable, they implemented the system also (not only they didn't want to use relocatables just like any other Wii game) for the purpose of making it difficult for hackers to figure out a way to get a complete game without beating it first.--Crazy Muzzarino (talk) 23:11, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

Changes to series templates

Hey, could you maybe stop doing site-wide changes like this and talk to the admins first? Shortening the game titles to only their subtitles is confusing and doesn't really do anything to improve the templates, other than maybe make them a bit smaller. --Rusty (talk) 08:47, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

Contra series tag removal

Hello,

Why was the Contra series tag removed from the Super Probotector prototype page? https://tcrf.net/index.php?title=Proto:Contra_III:_The_Alien_Wars/Super_Probotector_Sample&curid=458743&diff=1145514&oldid=1145124 Emjeeman (talk) 16:36, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

Series templates go on mainspace pages typically, not subpages. --Hawk (talk) 16:41, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
It should be removed from all the other prototype pages (sub pages of Proto:) then, right? I can go ahead with that, there are a few more. Emjeeman (talk) 17:54, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

Dummy Tags

Hey, just wondering why you removed the dummy=y tags from SpongeBob Square Off and Arthur's Computer Adventure? For SpongeBob you didn’t write anything but I assume it’s because it’s a vector baked in the SWF and could technically be considered not a file. But for Arthur you wrote “not funny”, and I don’t think it’s funny, I just thought it met the criteria for “unusual” since it’s an exact copy of a file that is used but with a different name. The Only Zac (talk) 16:39, 17 March 2022 (UTC)

The "not funny" thing was actually an autocorrect accident, meant to say "not dummy". Dummy files are files used to pad out the game's filesize, and what you put doesn't exactly qualify. Sorry for the confusion. --JacobLenstar (talk) 12:18, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
Ah ok, I understand now. Thank you for clarifying! The Only Zac (talk) 00:54, 20 March 2022 (UTC)

Jimmy Neutron vs. Jimmy Negatron

Hey, I was looking on your uploads at this page and I was wondering if you'd be able to tell me how you extracted the graphics data? Thanks

3DS Images Transparency

Sup. I noticed you've uploaded several 3DS title screens without transparency in the bottom screen. In the citra emulator, go to configuration -> graphics and set the background color to PINK or #FF00FF, then use any image editing software to turn that into a transparency. If you don't have an image editing software, there are many websites that do it for you automatically. Just google "png transparency converter" and the first hit should work fine. Upload your image, select the color you want to make transparent (the pink) and then save the image.

Oh, and also use descriptive filenames. For example, "3D Classics TwinBee title screen.png" and not "3D Classics TwinBee 03.12.22 05.46.01.17.png". It is the way. ReyVGM (talk) 23:48, 3 December 2022 (UTC)

ROTFD screenshot resolution

You've been uploading ROTFD screenshots with non-native resolution, just a heads up before you upload more and have to replace them all.

Project Playtime thanks

Thank you HorseFolder for helping with moving the files of the beta designs! - Haycoat

Deleting Developer References

I noticed some of your latest edits were to remove developer references from games. Why is this? The rules state that references should be added. Is there some unwritten rule against using GameFAQs for references that I'm unaware of? --Mattrizzle (talk) 15:08, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

I was told that I shouldn't use GameFAQs or MobyGames as a source. --HorseFolder (talk) 15:34, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
Where exactly did they tell you this? Some random social media post doesn't cut it in my opinion. If it isn't mentioned in this Wiki's rules, how should the moderation team expect everyone to know? I was the one who added the Family Feud (SNES) references you removed. --Mattrizzle (talk) 15:57, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

Donald Duck Goin Quackers N64 Port - Sound Player

Did you use a specific player for this song?:

because the song has a slight reverb at the end. The game has a special midi player where, among other things, the reverb command works differently and makes the notes quieter. And it seems that your rip is accurate.

I could then rip my song files better with it, because the ones I uploaded are missing the reverb. --Kowski (talk) 18:58, 2 March 2023 (UTC)

Sonic Master System Prerelease Page

I'm not quite sure why you removed the "Early Collection Box" stuff from the Sonic 1 8-Bit prerelease page. Would you be able to tell me why you did that? I'm very tempted to undo your edit as I can't see a reason for that stuff to not be included. --Murnjendoof (talk) 00:35, 11 August 2023 (UTC)

I have no real reason, just undo it. --HorseFolder (talk) 02:05, 11 August 2023 (UTC)

My apologies, I didn't realise that you had created a development sub-page and moved the songs to there. I thought that you had simply removed them entirely. After asking in the TCRF Discord server, it seems that such things are supposed to go in development sub-pages after all, so I won't revert any of your edits. Sorry again for the confusion. --Murnjendoof (talk) 02:53, 11 August 2023 (UTC)

MISI texture ripping

From where you're ripping graphics for Monsters, Inc. Scare Island, do you happen to have a tool that converts that type of RenderWare image to another graphic format? HorseFolder (talk) 23:33, 10 November 2023 (UTC) I used either TextureFinder or PCSX2's texture dumping feature.

Source Developer Asset Repository

The models and textures in Development:Half-Life: Source, how did you find them? Asking because the CombineOver Wiki as well as the modding community would also benefit from these files.

Shockwave Resolution

How did you get past the hardcoded Shockwave resolution to see what's outside the frame?

You did so with Dumbo's Great Race and I couldn't find any way to do so for my article on Bayou Scooby-Doo.

That game supposedly has text located out of bounds.
