As it turns out, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games wasn't the first game to feature plumber and hedgehog on the same turf, ditto for SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium in regards to Mai Shiranui and Chun-Li. Along with plenty of other characters from plenty of other series, World Heroes 2 is every gamer's dream that technically didn't come true (read: unlicensed game).

Regional Differences

As with some other pirate games, this one is using a PCB with a DIP switch on it. The game can check its state and change some of the game's looks. In case of World Heroes 2, the game contains two different regional modes: Chinese and English, which are selectable by changing the DIP switch. So, pirates can produce different versions of the same cartridge for other regions just by changing the DIP switch on the PCB, while the ROM will remain the same. Using FCEUX, you can switch titles just by resetting the game. Other emulators may do it another way.

In 2012, a variant called World Heroes 2 Pro was dumped. Since it's utilizing the same cartridge board, it has the same regional DIP switch selector as the regular version. Pro adds "Pro" to the title and adds an Options mode. Also, Cony Corp. of America has been changed to Cony Corp. of Japan along with the wording of game modes.
