So very stubbly.
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?
Hmmm...
To do:
  • Unused tracks in the game's data
  • More regional differences

Battle Arena Toshinden is the first 3D fighting game where every character totes a weapon of some sort. It's also a PlayStation launch title game in both US and Europe.

Regional Differences

The English text present in the Japanese version was tweaked and improved for the international versions.

Intro Text

Japan US
EIGHT TRAVELLING FIGHTERS, BROUGHT TOGETHER BY A COMMON DESTINY, NOW MEET AT THE TECHNO-RAGE! EIGHT TRAVELING FIGHTERS, BROUGHT TOGETHER BY A COMMON DESTINY, NOW MEET AT THE BATTLE ARENA TOSHINDEN!
KNOWN ONLY TO THOSE IN THE UNDERWORLD, MANY YEARS HAVE PASSED SINCE THIS TOURNAMENT WAS LAST HELD. MANY YEARS HAVE PASSED SINCE THIS TOURNAMENT, KNOWN ONLY TO THOSE IN THE UNDERWORLD, WAS LAST HELD.
SOME OF THE FIGHTERS HAVE COME FOR PERSONAL GLORY. SOME FIGHTERS HAVE COME FOR PERSONAL GLORY.
SOME HAVE COME TO FIGHT FOR THOSE THEY LOVE. OTHERS HAVE COME TO FIGHT FOR THOSE THEY LOVE,
ALL WILL DO THEIR UTMOST TO GAIN VICTORY IN THE TOURNAMENT WHICH WILL DECIDE THEIR DESTINY. BUT ALL WILL DO THEIR BEST TO BE VICTORIOUS IN THIS TOURNAMENT WHICH WILL DECIDE THEIR FORTUNES.

The European version has the same intro text as the US version, with the exception of changing "TRAVELING" to its British spelling "TRAVELLING".
