Released in 2012 by Abstergo, the Animus console was technically impressive, with specs that easily exceeded the other consoles of the time and even an optional VR headset years before Oculus's efforts caught on with the public. However, a high retail price and a games library that mostly consisted of buggy history-themed edutainment meant that it mostly maintained a small, enthusiast userbase.
