Once a liked game publisher, Electronic Arts (commonly shortened to EA) became infamous when they decided the best way to get more money was to rush their games, shove ineffective DRM in them, and fill them up with lootboxes "surprise mechanics" that amount to pay-to-win (such as Madden Ultimate Team and the whole mess with Star Wars Battlefront II).

EA also has a long history of buying up developers (often ones struggling to stay alive) only to close them down soon afterward while keeping the IPs.
