The runaway success of the PS1 and its CD-based format not only allowed bootleg copies of licensed titles to flourish, especially in emerging markets, but also a niche of compilations, pirate originals (primarily in Russia and China), and cheat discs - the latter essential for cheaters using PlayStation models without a parallel port.
