Unused Audio

Hmmm...
To do:
Rip the unused audio.

There is unused audio in the files for the boss Oceiros, the Consumed King. This audio features a baby crying for several seconds, followed by the child screaming and several disturbing sounds of violence.

Unused Gestures

Image Name Game Description Notes
DSIII-Lord of Cinder.png
Lord of Cinder Attempting to use this gesture seems to incorrectly activate the player animation for using a Throwing Dagger.
DSIII-Unmannered Bow.png
Unmannered Bow There are four used bow gestures: Bow, Duel Bow, Dignified Bow, and Proper Bow. The Unmannered Bow may be a counterpart to one or both of the latter two.

DSIII-Dingy Hood.png
Dingy Hood Worn by a Fire Keeper.

It is thought to have once been the white hood of a maiden, but bonfire ash has darkened it over the years.

This headwear shares its name with the Dingy Hood from Dark Souls II. Despite the item's name and description, its appearance is that of the mask worn by the Fire Keeper in Dark Souls III.
DSIII-Footman's Hood.png
Footman's Hood Hood worn by a manservant who roams the Undead Commune.

The lowly footmen were given the most dejectable[sic] tasks among citizens of the Undead Commune. Their superhuman strength far exceeds that of an ordinary person, and if agitated can become quite uncontrollable.

Frigid Valley Mask Mask worn by the beast knight of the Frigid Valley.

The mask was created using techniques now lost. It clearly has an unusual, unsettling air about it.

Heavy Knight's Helm Helmet of a heavy knight, leaden from head to foot.

Created with the ideology of withstanding any attack, it demands excessive physical strength from those who use it. However, the defensive power it offers is beyond expectation.

The Heavy Knight set appears to have been recolored and reincorporated as Lapp's Set in the Ringed City DLC.
DSIII-Heavy Knight's Armor.png

DSIII-Scholar's Shed Skin.png
Scholar's Shed Skin Skin shed from a sage of the Grand Archives. The ivory wax has hardened, forming a mask. Wax protected the inquirer from exposure to the foulness that permeated the majority of the texts, preventing one's anchor of reason from being too easily washed away. This item gets its appearance from the wax-covered heads of the Grand Archives Scholar. It appears to have been scrapped in favor of having the player dunk their heads in wax basins located around the level, which awards them a buff thats identical to the one this item would have provided.
DSIII-Soldier's Hood.png
Soldier's Hood Hood supplied to common soldiers protecting Lothric.

Its simple build offers the bare minimum of protection in battle, but is comparatively lightweight and manageable.

The name of this hood suggests it would have been worn by the Hollow Soldiers found in Lothric.
DSIII-Thief Mask.png
Thief Mask Mask of sinners.

They hide their faces, stifle their voices and hide in shadows.

It does not provide much in the way of defense.

The design of this Thief Mask variant is almost identical to the one that appears in Dark Souls II.

Online Play

Image Name Game Description Notes
DSIII-Spirit Amethyst.png
Spirit Amethyst Online play item. Purple crystal inhabited by spirits. Spirits soar to seek enemies from other worlds, conforming to the target's color. Can be used three times, then regenerated with rest at a bonfire. What stuff is it that in the purple crystal resides? Perhaps cinders of Undead, sacrificed to the bonfire. Or perhaps the vengeful spirits of those who fell to foes from distant worlds. Blue Sentinels and Darkmoon Knights have an effect similar to the description of this item when being summoned through a concord. A particle effect will spawn from their bodies and travel in the direction of the invader of the host's world.

Other

Image Name Game Description Notes
DSIII-Dragon Chaser's Ashes.png
Dragon Chaser's Ashes
DSIII-Dragon Scale.png
Dragon Scale There's a set of armor called Dragonscale, but it's unclear if there's a connection.
Gwyndolin's Finger Ruined finger of Dark Sun Gwyndolin. The young crossbreed girl loved her brother, of whom all that remains is this ruined finger. Even so, her love for him will never falter… There's a Dried Finger item that allows players to summon more phantoms and opens them to more invasions, but it's unclear if there's a connection.
DSIII-Holy Remains.png
Holy Remains Sinister vessel made from the skull of a noble king. Placed on the altar within the catacombs, but its origins are unclear. An ominous air emits from the chalice, gripping the hearts of those who peer at it as if determined to drag them to the world of the dead. This item shares its appearance with the chalice found in High Lord Wolnir's lair in the Catacombs of Carthus. When used, it teleports the player to the boss room.
DSIII-Iron Seal of the Wolf.png
Iron Seal of the Wolf Crest opening the way to Fort Faran, home to the Undead Corps. Passed down to cursed undead warriors, the stench of death still lingers. Perhaps Freise of Vinheim will have some use for it… Orbeck is the only NPC that hails from Vinheim; there is no character by the name of Freise. The Undead Corps is likely an early name for the Undead Legion, while Fort Faran is likely an early name for Farron Keep.

The item's appearance is similar to that of the Watchdogs of Farron covenant item.

DSIII-Pendant.png
Pendant This faintly warm medal, engraved with the symbol of the Sun, is the ultimate honor, awarded to shoe[sic] who summon the Warrior of Sunlight and complete a goal. The symbol represents Lord Gwyn's Firstborn, who lost his deity status and was expunged from the annals. But the old God of War still watches closely over his warriors. Appears to be using an HD remake of the icon for the Pendant from Dark Souls. The item's description seems to be that of an earlier version of the Sunlight Medal players receive for beating a boss with a Warrior of Sunlight covenant member present.
DSIII-Silver Talisman.png
Silver Talisman Appears to have the same visual design as the Silver Pendant from Dark Souls.

Image Name Game Description Notes
DSIII-Pyromancy Flame 1.png

DSIII-Pyromancy Flame 2.png

Rings

Image Name Game Description Notes
DSIII-Rare Ring of Sacrifice.png
Rare Ring of Sacrifice This ring shares its name with the Rare Ring of Sacrifice from Dark Souls. When equipped, it prevents the loss of Souls or Humanity upon death. If the player is killed by a Curse, the effect will vanish upon respawn. However, Dark Souls III does not have a penalty which persists after death due to Curse. It is very likely that the ring was removed from the game for the same reason (whatever that reason may be).
Ring of Hiding Masks one's presence from adversaries. Hides the wearer from Dark Spirits at a distance. The wearer's presence is obscured, concealing their very existence from invaders of that world. However, if permitted to get close, the effect will fade. This item seems to have been reworked into the Obscuring Ring, which is practically identical.
Ring of Sustained Energy Wearer's will to fight is converted into strength. Boosts stamina recovery speed, as long as attacking persists. The unnatural ability of a late hero dwells within this ring, the use of which was permitted to only a select and valiant few.
Ring of Sustained Essence Wearer's will to fight is converted into strength. Recovers FP with successive attacks. The unnatural ability of a late hero dwells within this ring, the use of which was permitted to only a select and valiant few.
Ring of Sustained Fortune Wearer's will to fight is converted into strength. Increases drop rate with successive attacks. The unnatural ability of a late hero dwells within this ring, the use of which was permitted to only a select and valiant few.
Ring of Sustained Magic Wearer's will to fight is converted into strength. Boosts spells, as long as attacking persists. The unnatural ability of a late hero dwells within this ring, the use of which was permitted to only a select and valiant few.
Ring of Sustained Might Wearer's will to fight is converted into strength. Adds extra damage with successive attacks. The unnatural ability of a late hero dwells within this ring, the use of which was permitted to only a select and valiant few. This ring appears to have been reworked into the Pontiff's Right Eye. The Right Eye boosts a player's attack by up to 15%, as long as they continue the assault.
Ring of Sustained Toughness Wearer's will to fight is converted into strength. Boosts defense, as long as attacking persists. The unnatural ability of a late hero dwells within this ring, the use of which was permitted to only a select and valiant few.
DSIII-Yorgh's Ring.png
Yorgh's Ring This ring originally appeared in the first DLC expansion for Dark Souls II. Dark Souls III's lore suggests that the name Yorgh may have belonged to a Giant.

Shields

Image Name Game Description Notes
DSIII-Ancient Dragon Greatshield.png
Ancient Dragon Greatshield There's a used shield known as the Ancient Dragon Greatshield, but it has a different icon.
DSIII-Prince's Shield.png
Prince's Shield Prince Lorian wields an enchanted sword, but no shield. It is worth noting that the visual design of this shield complements his other equipment, implicating that it was, at some point, going to be canon that Lorian historically wielded a shield which could be obtained by the player despite Lorian not using a shield in practice (due to specific circumstances). This would have been very similar to how Knight Artorias from Dark Souls wielded only a sword in battle but had a legendary greatshield obtainable by the player.
DSIII-Unknown Shield 2.png
Unknown Shield This shield shares its icon with the Cleric's Parma from Dark Souls II.

Spell Tomes

Image Name Game Description Notes
DSIII-Braille Tome of Sunlight.png
Braille Tome of Sunlight A sacred braille tome of sunlight, written for warriors of the sun covenant. Give it to a storyteller to learn sun miracles. Knights of the sunlight covenant are brilliantly beaming co-operators who volley lightning, and hand out medals before disappearing into the sunset. There are four used Braille Tomes, but this is not one of them.

Spells

Image Name Game Description Notes
Dorris Swarm Dark miracle taught at the Cathedral of the Deep; imparted by the mentor Dorris before she lost her mind. Summon a swarm of insects that nestles within foes. The insects bore completely through the body before continuing to erode everything in the vicinity. This miracle seems to have been reworked into Dorhys's Gnawing, which is practically identical.
Morbid Temptation A micracle[sic] that causes distress only to those that have turned hollow. To hollows, there is no greater affliction that the temptation of death. To them, this agony transcends imagination.

Souls

Image Name Game Description Notes
DSIII-Boss Soul 1.png
Soul of the Great Bat Soul of the Great Bat, sealed away deep beneath the earth. Use to acquire a huge amount of souls, or to make an offering at the training kiln… The great bat in question is almost assuredly the Demon Prince from the Ringed City DLC. Though, at one point, the Giant Bat was a boss in the Smouldering Lake.
DSIII-Boss Soul 2.png
Soul of a Wicked Spirit Soul of a malevolent god that possessed a heroic king. Use to acquire a huge amount of souls, or to make an offering at the training kiln…

Weapons

Image Name Game Description Notes
DSIII-Ancient Dragon Halberd.png
Ancient Dragon Halberd Rare halberd supposedly made from part of an immortal dragon.

The scarcity of the material is matched by its strength, and it will not falter when exchanging blows with any sort of weapon. The halberd's rarity has precipitated the giving and taking of countless lives.

Blood-stained Short Sword Dagger used by citizens of the Undead Commune. The inner blade is lined with fish hook-like barbs, maximising fatality when tangled in the target. It is rumored that this weapon had some sort of ritualistic use, but the truth is unknown. The Undead Commune is likely an early name for the Undead Settlement. This name also appears in the descriptions of the Footman's Set and the Hammer of the Giant Tree.
DSIII-Dancer's Short Bow.png
Dancer's Short Bow Bow born from the soul of the Dancer of the Frigid Valley.

Created using a tough Frigid Valley alloy, this bow is astonishingly flexibile, capable of firing powerful arrows.

This weapon's name suggests that it belongs to the Dancer of the Boreal Valley, but she wields Enchanted Swords, not a bow. Frigid Valley was an early name for the Boreal Valley, first appearing in the Network Test version of the game in the name of the boss it featured, Dancer of the Frigid Valley. This older name also appears in the description of the Frigid Valley Mask.
DSIII-Foot Soldier Sword.png
Foot Soldier Sword This sword first appeared in Dark Souls II.
DSIII-Four Knights Hammer.png

The right is embedded with thorns, designed to wound and wither the opponent. During that instant, the left is used to finish them with its superior cutting ability. A deadly onslaught with this weapon will strike fear into one's enemies.

These swords have designs identical to those of the Dark Silver Tracer and Gold Tracer from Dark Souls, with snazzy HD remastered models and textures.
DSIII-Hammer of the Giant Tree.png
Hammer of the Giant Tree Hammer crafted from the trunk of a great tree that has survived for an overwhelmingly long time.

It was said that the old tree posessed[sic] thought, and became an object of worship for citizens of the Undead Commune. With a density and strength unthinkable for wood, it boasts power that can stand up against any metallic weapon.

The Undead Commune is likely an early name for the Undead Settlement. This name also appears in the descriptions of the Footman's Set and the Blood-stained Short Sword.
DSIII-Heavy Four-Pronged Plow.png
Heavy Four-Pronged Plow Four-pronged Plow wielded by the wooden scarecrows, serfs of the forest Sanctuary.

The scarecrow serfs would not normally use these four-pronged plows as weapons, but their sharpness makes them very deadly.

This weapon comes directly from Dark Souls.
DSIII-Lothric's Scythe.png
Lothric's Scythe Scythe born from the soul of Lothric.

Forged for Prince Lothric, this weapon's blade is slightly elongated and boasts beautiful craftmanship. It has a sharp edge contains[sic] a hard alloy, and can rip through anything like paper.

Prince Lothric is an unarmed magic user. He and his brother are fought in a single boss battle, and they drop a shared Boss Soul known as the Soul of the Twin Princes, which the player can choose to forge into Lothric's Holy Sword or Lorian's Greatsword. The two can then be transposed into the Twin Princes' Greatsword. No mention of a scythe.
DSIII-Manikin Sabre.png
Manikin Sabre There are Manikin Claws, but not a sabre. This item is a direct replica of an item from Dark Souls II.
DSIII-Missionary Axe.png
Missionary Axe Axe used by the missionaries who endeavored to propagate the Undead Commune, as well as its surrounding lands.

Unused Textures

Hmmm...
To do:
Rip the unused textures.

There are unused textures in the files of Oceiros, the Consumed King, showing what appears to be a baby. The child seems to have suffered major injuries in one of the textures, meaning that this is likely related to the unused audio for the same boss.
