Grand Theft Auto 2 is the sequel to the first game. Taking place in three districts of one city instead of three and adding new features. It's also the only game in the Grand Theft Auto series to not use a roman numeral to represent what game in the series it is.

Debug Menu
A "Debug" tab can be added to the GTA2Manager setup executable by editing the Registry, by going to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DMA Design Ltd\GTA2\Debug and adding a string bob_debug_display with a value of 1. From here, you can enable a lot of debug features, cheats and other such things.
The following keys are enabled when "Do Debug Keys" is ticked:
- 1 – +1 respect for the first gang.
- 2 – +1 respect for the second gang.
- 3 – +1 respect for the third gang.
- 4 – +1 wanted level.
- 5 – Erases wanted level.
- C – Shows coordinates.
Using the numpad, the player can adjust the view or teleport themselves:
- 7 – Zoom out.
- 9 – Zoom in.
- 8 – Up.
- 4 – Left.
- 6 – Right.
- 2 – Down.
- 0 – Teleport.
- 5 – Center on the player.
- \ - Focus on the nearest vehicle.
- + - Frame-by-frame pausing.
- - - Toggle Fast Forward mode.
- . – 100% health.
Unused Objects
Objects to be put on a map, some similar to the original Grand Theft Auto. Many are found within the game's files and are fully functional, but for some reason are not included anywhere in the game.
BENCH
Bench, may be hit by a car.
BIN
Garbage bin.
BLASTER
Ghetto blaster, makes a constant sound.
BLOOD
Blood, taken from GTA1.
BOXES
Boxes, similar to the ones from GTA1. Destroyed when the player walks or drives over them.
CRATE
Crate, like the boxes, destroyed when the player walks or drives over them.
FOOTY
Football / soccer ball, can be kicked around by both the player and AI-controlled pedestrians and cars.
HYDRANT
A fire hydrant. Cannot be destroyed.
NEWSDIS
A newstand, movable.
OILDRUM
A movable oil barrel.
RUBBISH
As the name implies. Can be destroyed.
TYRE
A tyre, movable.
Body parts
Unused sprites indicate that Claude was meant to blow enemies into pieces, something which was only implemented as of GTA III.
Unused Weapons
Electrobaton
A half-working weapon known as the "electrobaton" can be found in the game. How it works is: first, a bullet is shot. If it hits a pedestrian, an electric current is created between the weapon and the target but the targeted person never dies. When used against human players, the electrobaton causes them to slow down and continue walking even when the player stops holding any buttons. Using it against cars has no effect (i.e. only bullets are shot, without electricity). The electrobaton makes no sound, unlike the constant buzzing noise of Electrogun.
Instant Vehicle Bomb
Similar to the regular Vehicle Bomb, except it explodes immediately after triggering, leaving no time to escape from the car. Perhaps meant for a suicide mission of some sort.
Tanker
This unused vehicle that can be attached to a Truck Cab, similar to Transporters and Containers.
Unused Graphics
Cop's Dialogue Face
A policeman's face, possibly would have been used for dialogue. In-game, dialogue parts spoken by cops are rare and use the generic "neutral character" face.
Textures
The graphic files contain a couple of tile textures with a white "X" drawn over them.
Palette Swaps
Light green versions of the Cop Car and SWAT Van, as opposed to the light blue ones always found in the final version.
Unused Text
The following can be found in the ".gxt" text files.
Area Names
m33 Romanova m35 Azimuth m36 Barking m41 Kyabetsu
Statistics
bnk_job BANK JOBS bus_hi BUSES HIJACKED trn_hi TRAINS HIJACKED
These would be probably displayed among other statistics shown when the player quits. Hijacking trains is not even possible in the game, though it was in Grand Theft Auto.
"Report dead briefs"
"Empty" text strings. If testers were to encounter these in-game, they were supposed to be reported.
