This is a sub-page of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Windows).
| This article is a work in progress. ...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.
|
Much like the previous games, this one also has a lot of unused sounds, but it's even more apparent here!
| To do: Find everything there is to find in "alldialog.uax" and "soundeffects.uax". |
| To do: Too much NPC dialogue determined by RNG to manually check, need to find how bumplines are set for them. |
execdemo.uax
This file contains many sounds from previous games. Most of them likely acted as placeholders. Some of the sounds were recycled for the game, but they are not exact copies of the files present in this archive.

alldialog.uax
All of the dialog files. Compared to the previous games, the documentation in the debug sound test is well done. Most voiced audio files have a specific name that makes it easier to contextualise where they would've belonged. The usual structure is [Console]_[Character]_[Level]_[Order]. Bumplines, what NPCs say when you walk into them, work a bit differently. Often their numbers will refer to the currrent gamestate, or what the current objective is. As an example, that means that wandering students will only mention going to charms class when that objective is the current one, but otherwise these lines won't get added in the dialog pool.

Lily! Take Harry and go!
|
These first 2 clips were meant to be in the iconic "Voldemort kills Harry's parents" scene, but the story never mentions the scream Harry hears when fainting. The internal event name 'ADV2Bog2bkgrd' is not used either. The last 2 have different filenames, strongly suggesting that they were meant to be used when Harry faints in Quidditch. The first clip was used in the PS2 version of Prisoner of Azkaban whenever Dementors appeared, albeit with an echo filter.
