Probably the largest amount of uncompiled source code ever found in a Dreamcast game.

Unused Practice Track

Elementary, my dear Cactus.
This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: See if there's any way to access this normally.

Track ID 0x0E is an unused practice track simply named PRACTICE in 1ST_READ.BIN. It also has its own loading screen which calls the track TRAINER. The track consists of many obstacles that allow you to practice the various game mechanics. Unlike other tracks, this one has no time limit or AI opponents. Despite the track's polished appearance, there doesn't appear to be any way of accessing it normally.

Interestingly, the back of the game's case lists the game as having "14 vividly rendered tracks". While there are 14 tracks in the game, only 13 of them are normally accessible with the 14th one being the aforementioned practice track.

Developer Messages

A developer message that can be found in all versions of the game is present at 0xBAC8C in 1ST_READ.BIN and throughout track 37. This message can also be found in the arcade original.

James Cameron Rules

Another message can be found near the beginning of most files in the game, directly below the previous message.

fuck you

This hidden message isn't present in the arcade game's files, so it seems that someone at Eurocom wasn't a fan of James Cameron.
