LEGO Rock Band is a spinoff of the Rock Band series, targeted to families and children, featuring a surprisingly detailed recreation of Brian May's hair.

Unused Jimi Hendrix Assets

There are some leftover assets of a scrapped Jimi Hendrix Minifig. On the game files the model is labeled as "Jimmy_Hendrix" and has an incomplete band preset and it's inaccessible.

Unused Sounds

Some of these sounds also appeared unused in the files for Rock Band 2.

Test Sounds

Inside the sfx/samples/test/gen folder, there are several unused sounds of a man saying numbers 1 through 4, with a "minus" version of each. These files also have SFX logs in the root directory of the game.

Mic Test

Various common sound effects appear in the the sfx/samples/gen folder. Two files are marked as "mic_test", containing a few seconds of vocals each, both in Harmonix's dry vocals format (with a lowered sample rate and mono). Internally, the dry vocals (dry meaning without processing like EQ and reverb) are used to generate lip sync and point value of each vocal phrase, while the "wet" vocals (with processing) are what are actually heard in-game. These also appear in Rock Band 2, but they are longer in this game.

mic_test1.wav_wii

This is the first verse of Garbage's "Cherry Lips". The song was never released as DLC, though it appeared in Harmonix's Amplitude from 2003. This suggests either it was planned as DLC or someone internally really liked testing with it. Also of note is that since this version is longer than the clip in Rock Band 2, you can hear the word "shit" towards the end, which also appears (but isn't heard in-game, thanks to the way samples are represented in the song's chart) in the Amplitude sound banks.

mic_test2.wav_wii

This is part of the first verse and chorus of "Monkey Wrench" by the Foo Fighters. The song was released as DLC in a full album release shortly after Rock Band 2's release, though this clip is actually the vocal part of the Guitar Hero II cover of the song. This suggests Harmonix occasionally tested and charted on the WaveGroup-sourced stems from their Guitar Hero titles. The last few lines of the first verse and the entire prechorus are cut out of the clip.

Curiously, the album that "Monkey Wrench" comes from, The Colour and the Shape, has its album art appear several times as unused placeholder art in Rock Band 3.

Say It Ain't Clean/Dist

These are simply a few seconds of the guitar track from Weezer's "Say It Ain't So". The song originally appeared in the first Rock Band.

test_sayitaintclean.wav_wii

The guitar intro, which has no distortion or effects applied, hence "clean".

test_sayitaintdist.wav_wii

Part of the riff going into the solo, which uses distortion.

These sounds are also longer than in Rock Band 2 by about 10 seconds despite not being used.

SFX Sample Logs

Various raw text files exist in the root of the file structure. Most of the files with spaces in their names refer to audio samples in a folder that no longer exists. These relate to sound effects on certain maps, though some don't exist at all. The first block of their headers are below.

pig fucker.wii.txt

Unused Song

On the disc, there is the full audio and MIDI chart for the song "Just For Tonight" by One Night Only. There is no metadata associated with it, so the game won't load it normally. The song was released as regular DLC in 2010, a year after the game's release. The audio file on the Wii version is a few megabytes bigger than the DLC version, suggesting it's slightly higher quality.

MOGG Encode Logs

Only 3 MOGG log files did not get removed in a few places. These were probably generated by whichever tools were used.
