Madagascar: Operation Penguin does something interesting; set a few months after the Christmas short included on the Madagascar DVD and Blu-Ray, we see what the infamous penguin gang (particularly Private) go through during the events of the movie, collecting everything necessary to escape their pen and move to Antarctica.
