The end result of Sega really, really, really, REALLY wanting a Castlevania game on their systems. While generally seen as inferior to its inspiration, its also generally seen as not a bad game either.
Originally released for the Japanese Game Gear in October 1992, this Master System port came out about two months later in the UK, then the rest of Europe later next year.[1] Another year later, Sega would finally get their wish, which meant Master of Darkness remained a one-off and serves as a symbol of Sega's early licensing woes.
