Undocumented Secret Player
Oddly, one secret character never had his cheat revealed to the public, despite being fully implemented. Enter VLK as your initials and NOV 9 as your birthday to unlock the individual pictured on the left, named Kamm. His in-game appearance is that of Robotron 2084 co-creator Larry DeMar, who is given a Special Thanks credit in this game under his "L.E.D." initials.
The "VLK" initials and on-screen name refer to Vicki Kamm, who is now his wife.
Banned Characters
Eight of the hidden characters were removed after Revision 2 by demand of the NBA themselves. Apparently, they didn't really see the humor in Death and a gorilla viking shooting hoops with characters from Mortal Kombat. Luckily, they're still perfectly usable in Revisions 1 and 2!
Interestingly, Kongo returned in NBA Hangtime as one of the selectable custom player heads.
Fatalities
Revisions 1 and 2 have another Mortal Kombat-based Easter egg: on the team select screen, hold Up and press Pass (×20). The message "Fatalities Enabled" will appear to confirm the code.
After doing this, if you get on fire by scoring three baskets in a row and then push another player with Turbo + Pass, they will sometimes catch on fire, a la Scorpion's "Toasty" finisher. This is just a visual effect, though.
Hidden Credits

Unused Commentary
Originally, there was an intention to use a more extreme version of the "Get that outta here" soundbite, recorded as "Get that shit outta here" only for the NBA to reject the idea, even after bleeping out the offending word. The samples needed are all still present in the ROM, with the censored version still theoretically accessible via soundboard sample codes that remain uncalled in-game. However, to ensure no accidental leaks of the original, the profanity is disabled by removing any reference to the affected sample in the game's code.
To access the audio, it is necessary to send sound board commands "7A B5" in order to play samples 39, 3A and 3B from bank 6 for the censored version. The uncensored version is available from the command "7A C9".
