Persona 5/Unused Personas

From The Cutting Room Floor
Jump to navigation Jump to search

This is a sub-page of Persona 5.

Persona 5 has 463 valid Persona entries, just under half of these entries are used for Personas that can be found in-game.

Most of these unused Personas appear to have been carried over from previous games. The protagonist has no corresponding voice clips for calling out any of these Personas. Unless stated otherwise, none of these Personas have models or skills programmed. Most of the corresponding entries on the enemy table for these unused Personas are used for bosses and backup enemies that cannot be recruited. An explanation on why the enemy table is relevant can be read on the game's notes page.

Loki

0D2 contains a unique version of Loki, the Persona used by Black Mask. It is classed under the Justice Arcana, but is unfinished and lacks any weaknesses or resistances as well as having no skills programmed. It also lacks a unique Compendium description, and uses a placeholder. When summoned during battle it uses blue lighting like a regular Persona, instead of the red lighting effects used during the Black Mask fight. It was likely intended to have been the Ultimate Persona of Goro Akechi, as unused voice clips exist of him calling Loki's name. If Loki is hacked to be Akechi's Persona, he will use those voice clips when performing a critical hit or striking a weakness with a Persona skill. Oddly, it has a default level of 1, compared to the red lighting Loki's default level of 45.

Another version of Loki can be found at 0EE, however, it crashes the game if a battle is started with it in the player's Persona stock.

Loki would later become fully usable by Goro Akechi in Persona 5 Royal as a level 75 Persona with a fleshed out skill set and Compendium description.

This duplicate entry is listed before a series of duplicate entries for the party's Ultimate Personas, and its Arcana matches that of the protagonist. That and with Satanael not having an entry alongside these duplicate Ultimate Persona entries, indicate Lucifer might have originally been intended to have been the protagonist's Ultimate Persona.

Arcana Oddities

The enemy table entries that correspond to these unused Personas are used for the game's minibosses, and as such the Arcanas of their corresponding enemy table entries share their Arcana, resulting in some minibosses having different Arcanas to what their normal Persona variants have. These different Arcana are unviewable since minibosses cannot be negotiated with. If these unused Persona entries were meant to be fully-fledged Personas at some point, there doesn't seem to be any hints other than Arcana on who they were intended to be.

Placeholder Persona entries

There is a small group of 29 RESERVE placeholder Personas. These RESERVEs have no skills defined, are classed under the Fool Arcana and share the same stat spread, they will crash the game if the player attempts to view them in the Persona Stock or starts a battle with them in stock. Six of them located between the entries for Choronzon and Nigi Miitama, ten are located between Satanael and Orpheus's entries, one of them is located between a duplicate of Robin Hood and the aforementioned unused Lucifer entry, and the remaining twelve located between a duplicate of Loki and Helel's unused RESERVE entry.
