A strange Pac-Man type game starring Pikachu where he must collect floating orbs and avoid mummies, guys with bucket helmets, Arabic caterpillars, Asian butchers and Grim Reapers, or else he dies and sounds like a Jamaican guy.

Unused Text

Right at the beginning of the ROM is a set of credits for the TomSoft MegaDrive SDK, which was used to develop the game.

Harry Potter

The gameplay is exactly the same, but most of the graphics and sounds were changed between versions.

Unused Text

Just like Pokémon II, it has developer credits right at the beginning of the ROM, but it seems to have been changed by another person, likely the person dumped the ROM.

An alternate dump of this game exists which contains the same Tomsoft credit text as Pokémon II.

Differences with Pokémon II

While the gameplay is exactly the same, there are lots of aesthetic differences.

Title Screen

Pokémon II Harry Potter
Pikachu! Push Start! Welcome to Hogwarts, Harry. Push Start!

Splash Screens

Each level has their own splash screen before they start.

Pokémon II Harry Potter
The compression makes this feel non-human. DO NOT ENTER, HARRY
Pokémon II Harry Potter
Gotta catch 'em all! Gotta use your imagination!

The game endlessly repeats, and level 1's splash screen is just the title screen (minus the Push Start graphic) for both.

Level 1

Pokémon II Harry Potter
So a Pikachu walks into a bar... Harrypottergenesis level1.png

Level 1 in Pokémon II takes place in some crazy bar, and at a castle in Harry Potter. The former's music is a short loop of the first level theme from Cool Spot, while the latter's is taken from the film.

Level 2

Pokémon II Harry Potter
Pikachu On Camp There sure are a lot of tents for a Forbidden Forest.

Level 2 is the same in both games, but with different palettes and music.
