E32009 Demo
On August 13, an E3 demo was seen in the game's files. The demo has several changes from the final version.
- Totems required you to hit X and B.
- When punching a totem, a timer would display how much time you had left.
- It was originally possible to destroy all totems in Coastal Calamity.
- The bottom screen shows a counter of how many storm gates have been missed.
- The orbs were actually gems.
- Omegaton's color is plain white, but was changed to blue in the final game.
- Zephyr's tornado was animated differently.
- The graphics would always be on 4:3 but in the final game you can choose.
- The Vortex race had you grabbing fire flyers instead of Shielding yourself in the final game.
- The Fire Flyer counter would tell you how many Fire Flyers were in the zone. In the final game this was replaced with "GOAL:", and "TOTAL".
- The text "Return to STORM CELL" was changed to "Return to the L.O.A.D. STARR".
July 2007 Demo
A 2007 prototype can be unlocked after collecting all of the Water Whirls in Military Mayhem.
- Lack of characters (only a blue tornado).
- Chicken Farm was just a small world with animals and a barn, silo, and a few vehicles. In the final game the world is larger with more detail.
- Pigs were more realistic, in the final game they are small and cartoonish.
- The entire map and graphics.
