This is a sub-page of Proto:Crash Nitro Kart (PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox).

Another demo version of Crash Nitro Kart was part of the Official US PlayStation Magazine Demo Disc 77. It's identical to the GameStop demo version, even featuring most of what went unused there. However, it's slightly more complete in comparison. As such, this article will only detail differences from the previous demo version and the final game that are specific to this demo. According to the modification dates of the files, the demo is dated around July 24th, 2003.

Just like the previous demo, it also features Jungle Boogie and Out of Mime as playable race tracks.

Menu Differences

  • Power-up is called "Use Power-up".

Gameplay Differences

Compared to the previous demo, there are some notable changes and improvements, such as:

  • The characters' model are now affected by the shadow of the environment.
  • The characters now feature static animations, although they don't loop properly.
  • There is no cooldown in idle animations, the character keeps repeating the animation right after performing it.

  • Start banners are now implemented.
  • The minimap is now in the final position on the HUD.
    • Because of this, now the height meter is overlapped by the minimap.

Track Differences

At this point in development, many X and Wumpa crates were added into the tracks in order to adjust the difficulty, although some of them were later removed for balancing.

Jungle Boogie

  • There is a X crate in the shortcut that was removed in the final game.
  • That Wumpa crate was moved further ahead in the final game.

Out of Time

  • The giant hourglass floating up above the ramps was now removed.

  • The ramps have a different texture and don't give a dash.
  • This X crate was removed in the final game.
  • The Wumpa crate afterwards was moved to the other side of the fence.
  • That Wumpa crate next to the last worm was removed in the game.
