This page details one or more prototype versions of Fortnite: Save the World (Windows, Mac OS X).

There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.

Online Test 1

  • Hydraulic weapons were originally red instead of yellow.
  • There were various potions which did many different things.
  • The pickaxe had durability and had to be crafted.
  • The constructor had a different model.
  • There was a HUD element at the top right which gave the day you were on, and the current in-game time.
  • Your hero classes were leveled up independently, and had a max level of 20.
  • Your current backpack slots used was shown next to material count.
  • All items and abilities were show on the same hotbar (7 slots).
  • Atlases were also called Storm Gates, and were a purple color instead of looking similar to Bluglo.
  • There was a bell sound that played when the time changed to night.
  • The game was much darker overall.
  • Power Level was not divided at all (47.15PL currently would be 4,715PL then, purely additive).
  • Homebase was originally a more fleshed out, diversified menu which you could slot survivors and level up various heroes.
    • Command Center
      • “Upgrade overall Home Base level to increase your power”.
    • 4 Hero buildings.
    • 8 Survivor buildings.
      • Hospital
        • Increases Fortitude.
        • Unlock and upgrade Adrenaline.
        • Received various upgrades as your PL for that squad increased.

          • Injured Health Regen.
          • Healing
      • Gym
        • Increases movement speed and energy.
        • Unlock and upgrade teleporter.
    • Could upgrade different parts of buildings as well.
      • Hospital
        • Main Building
          • Increases max health and health regen.
        • Helipad
          • Increases health regen.
        • Surgery Wing
        • Extra Rooms
  • Classes were originally based on ability trees instead of having separate heroes of the same class.
    • Had the option to Respec Abilities or Delete Hero.
      • Constructor
        • Energy Fabrication
          • “The coolest thing to Fabricate”.
        • Hyperthreading
          • “Increases the effectiveness of Recycling. Spawns 1 resources for every 3 connected pieces. Additionally increases storage capacity of B.A.S.E. to 200 of each resource.”
        • Automated Defenses

“Increases B.A.S.E. connectivity by 2 units.”

Territorial “Get off my lawn!” Energized Floors “Enemies within the area affected by B.A.S.E. take damage every 2 seconds.

Base Damage : 10 Energy Damage” Plasmatics “An ounce of prevention is not as good as a shield”.
