Cactus 2.0!
This article has just been started and needs the article basics added.
Help us out and add them.
This cactus is UNDER CONSTRUCTION
This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.
So very stubbly.
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?
Elementary, my dear Cactus.
This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically:
  • What is the single tab under ‘Game’ supposed to be? I can’t tell if it’s a game or a downloaded file.
  • Are the model and controller images on the turn off selection screen really prototypes?
Hmmm...
To do:
Document the unused coldboot along with some sounds. Interested editors can find more here: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/taking-ps3-wave-mods-to-the-next-level-lines-qrc.32693/

This prototype XMB changed from 0.85.

Differences

  • The background is no longer a blue gradient, instead, it's a solid black background.
  • The turn off selection screen now features a prototype PS3 model if Turn off the system is hovered and similarly, a prototype PS3 DualShock 3 controller if Turn off this controller is hovered. The prototype model and the DualShock 3 controller may be from the time this build has been made.
  • The Users tab now features an option to create a user and the lists the users on the system, like in the final build.

Unused Early Coldboot

There's an unused coldboot in the firmware that appears to be an earlier version of the final's coldboot. It's disabled and unused. The early coldboot wave grows from right to left.

There is also an early unused startup sound and an early unused gameboot sound in the files of the firmware. These are very creepy, simpler and eerie than the final's coldboot sounds.
