Proto:Pokémon Diamond and Pearl/March-August 2006 Source Leak/June 30 Changed Sprites
This is a sub-page of Proto:Pokémon Diamond and Pearl/March-August 2006 Source Leak.
This article is a work in progress. ...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes. |
Pokémon Sprites
To do: Move gender differences down to their own table down below. Add generation 1-3 sprites for 6/30 and final. |
Something to note with these sprites is that a number of backsprites, like Grotle's and Torterra's, are just their front sprites mirrored horizontally, modified slight, and then repositioned to roughly match their final backsprite's pose.
Also a second backsprite sits in the space where an animated front sprite's second frame would be, but this space normally goes unused for the backsprites. This space is used in later Generation 4 games, which do feature animated back sprites. Some of the early Japanese names featured here match the names found in the titles of Pokémon Battle Revolution's cry sound files.

Named "Kimairan" (キマイラン) in this build. Both sprites are rough, unshaded sketches featuring a completely different design, with this one resembling an orange, though still hexapedal, creature with a blonde crest and tail, an odd mouth, and what appears to be three gems lining up its side. Seemingly based on Hundun, a primordial deity of chaos in Chinese mythology, as well as the Chimera, the word being featured in early name. May have later influenced Landorus' Therian Forme. |

Named "Darei" (ダーレイ) in this build. Both sprites are rougher, unshaded sketches with an earlier design showing a more humanoid body, "hair" that is red instead of white, and eyes that are green instead of blue. Interestingly, the early "hair" is reminiscent of the way the "S" is stylized in the Japanese poster for the movie The Rise of Darkrai. Name appears to be a combination of "dark" and 霊 (rei) "spirit/ghost." |
