Compiled on November 14, 1999, just almost two weeks before the final build.

Also known as DEMOTEST. This was the first test to bill itself as a demo.

Changes from Q3Test 1.08

• New dataset based on mostly final assets, dropping a lot of prototypical materials.
• The final menu interface makeover.
• A single player ladder.
• Menu interface to load and save config files (later removed in 1.11).
• Functional Mr. Elusive bots!
• The default placeholder sound effect is implemented as the menu select sound instead of a buzz. The final uses the hit sound.

Menu

The 3d logo is glowing green and the menu background has a complex animated shader. This was taken out most likely due to driver problems with various hardware (especially Rage Pro).

His eyes appear black and shiny in 1.09 while they are glowing blue in the final.

Although not appearing in the test release, the shader for Anarki's board is different.

Play tips

Among the "Crash's hints and tips for better players" lies these lines unique to 1.09, including an anti-piracy message just in case there was a full leak again.
