This is a sub-page of Proto:Sonic Unleashed (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3)/Preview Prototype (Disc 1).

The Install debug menu can be accessed in the preview build by moving the cursor left on the title screen and selecting the Install menu option. Unfortunately, a lot of what this menu was used for seems to have been dummied out of this build, likely as a space-saving measure (as this was a review copy sent to the press, and even then only one of two discs).

Note: anything not in bold is a comment, not actually present in the menu.

1 - [Rom]

A stage select. Contains the following options:

  • 1 - [Petra] (Arid Sands) (missing from the disc)
  • 2 - [Mykonos] (Windmill Isle)
  • 3 - [EU] (Rooftop Run)
  • 4 - [Snow] (Cool Edge)
  • 5 - [Africa] (Savannah Citadel)
  • 6 - [China] (Dragon Road)
  • 7 - [NewYork] (Skyscraper Scamper) (missing from the disc)
  • 8 - [Beach] (Jungle Joyride) (missing from the disc)
  • 9 - [EggmanLand] (missing from the disc)

Selecting any of these presents you with a list of stages, including the main acts and the sub-Acts. Each loads the respective stage. Stages missing from the disc can be restored by porting files from the final game.

2 - [Town]

A hubworld select. Contains the following options:

  • 1 - [Africa] (Mazuri)
  • 2 - [China] (Chun-nan)
  • 3 - [NYCity] (Empire City) (missing from the disc)
  • 4 - [Snow] (Holoska)
  • 5 - [SouthEastAsia] (Adabat) (missing from the disc)
  • 6 - [Mykonos] (Apotos)
  • 7 - [EuropeanCity] (Spagonia)
  • 8 - [PetraCapital] (Shamar) (missing from the disc)
  • 9 - EggManBase (missing from the disc)

Interestingly, some of these use alternate internal names compared to the stage select.

Besides EggManBase, which takes you straight to the Eggmanland hub area since there's only one, selecting any of these allows you to load into either the hubworld or the entrance stage during either the daytime or nighttime. [EuropeanCity] and [PetraCapital] have extra options for Professor Pickle's labs in those two areas. Again, hubs missing from the disc can be restored using files from the final game.

3 - [Boss]

A boss select. Contains the following options:

Somewhat related to the above, this seems to be something of a "scratch pad" for level designers, allowing them to quickly jump to specific areas and the like. The Japanese characters display as question marks in the menu itself, curiously.

The prescence of Wii_Movie is interesting given that the final game shares almost nothing with the Wii release. Given prerelease screenshots showing old 360 assets that more closely resemble what's used in the Wii version, it's possible that Unleashed Wii was originally intended to be more of a straight port rather than its own game.
