This is a sub-page of Proto:Terraria.
| This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article? |
This early prototype of Terraria is one of two prototypes leaked on 4chan. This version is more of a tech demo, but a surprising amount of the assets are unchanged from release 1.0.
This prototype along with its later build can be downloaded from archive.org

Gameplay Differences
- The player is named "Some n00b".
- There is no main menu, you load straight into a randomly generated world.
- There is no options menu, pressing escape simply opens and closes your inventory.
- Fall damage is absent.
- Items are dropped from the player, like in Mediumcore mode. Items in the belt remain at death.
- The Work Bench, Furnace, etc, are not present in this build, so items normally made using them (Doors, Ingots, Weaponry, etc.) can be crafted in your inventory.
- This uses an older world generation method, very different from the release version. It also lacks the generation of chests, biomes (except for forest), mines, dungeons, and other objects.
- There are no debuffs or buffs, and healing is possible only by eating mushrooms.
- No liquids are present.
- Enemies do not despawn when offscreen, which increases slowdown.
- There are only 26 items present in this build.
- The three Watches as well as the Depth Meter are not present in this build, instead replaced by clothes.
| Item ID | Sprite | Item Name |
|---|---|---|
| 15 | Green Tunic | |
| 16 | Gray Tunic | |
| 17 | White Pants | |
| 18 | Blue Pants |
- There are only five enemies, the Blue Slime, the Green Slime, the Purple Slime, the Yellow Slime, and the Red Slime.
- Left Alt, or Right Alt + Enter, will toggle fullscreen.
Graphical Differences
- Earlier versions of textures, animations, doors, and armor are used.
- There are no background blocks.
- The character's standard clothing was listed as armor and could be taken off.
- There was no parallax background - only the sky.
- The lighting was rough.
- The character sprites and animations are completely different

Music
- This build features no music.
Misc Differences
- "Terraria: Dig Peon, Dig!" is the only available window title.
- Curiously, the game has a "maxPlayers" variable that's set to 16.
Code Features
- The game contains a "dumbAI" boolean, and enabling it overrides the AI of all enemies, making them motionless.
- There is also a "godMode" boolean, that, unsurprisingly, makes you immune to all damage.
Debug Mode
The game features a debug mode, with a very limited set of features.
- The camera controls no longer follow the player, but they are manually controlled with the arrow keys.
- You can hold down right click, and then tap left click to spawn a Yellow Slime at the cursor.
- Holding down right click will rapidly place torches along a valid block face.
