The configuration file for the game can be edited freely, revealing some text in the options you can't normally see.
General Differences
- You can only use three characters: Reimu, Mima, and Marisa.
- CPU battles are one person only. Even if you defeat the opponent, you get a game over.
- This singular character is, accordingly, even more powerful.
Yume.cfg
By modifying yume.cfg within the game's files using a hex editor, you can reveal an option that you can't normally access.
MIDI option
As in the trial version of Touhou Gensoukyou: Lotus Land Story, there is an unused MIDI option. Setting the value of the Music option to 02, which is the first value in yume.cfg, will reveal the "MIDI" option. This could mean that Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream was going to have MIDI music at some point, but the only PC-98 Touhou game that officially contained an option for MIDI music was Story of Eastern Wonderland.
