So, these uncovered prototypes are for PlayStation. I thought it was documented that Mega Man 8 was originally meant to be a Saturn release, but Sony "demanded" it from Capcom. Even the Japanese edition of Rockman 8 came out for the PlayStation before it did on the Saturn, though it was a simultaneous release in North America. I thought it was sort of like how The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was released for the Wii first, even though it was primarily a GameCube game and developed as such, and I think they in turn had simultaneous Japanese releases. However, the existence of early PlayStation prototypes leads me to believe that this is may just be a baseless rumor. Even though Capcom had a history of supporting the Saturn back in the day, Mega Man X4 is an example of one of their which which was definitely meant for PlayStation but was ported over to the Saturn. So maybe the Saturn version was only an enhanced port all along, and perhaps not the intended version as it was previously believed. Though it's also possible that the story was indeed true and each version was designed at the same time - we'd just happen to have the ones worked on for PlayStation. Then again, I don't pretend to know how game development works, but it could be worth looking into. LinkTheLefty 12:25, 14 January 2012 (EST)

A very similar thing happened with Symphony of the Night. It was made for PlayStation and then they made some additions when they ported it to Saturn, and a good number of people think the Saturn is the true version and the PlayStation version cut or removed things.
