Debug Menus

The debug menus in this game are a little convoluted to access, due to needing a specific item in the player's inventory. Here's how to get that item:

  1. Start the game, and once the player characters can be moved, head to the top of the starting town and talk to either of the black-haired characters blocking the way out.
  2. Go to the blue-roofed building with the shield sign next to it and approach the door. The person inside will talk to you, but won't let you in.
  3. Finally, head to the trees in the left side of town. You'll see Santa Claus (yes, really) walking around. Talk to him to get the required item.

With the required item in hand, the following button codes can now be entered while the game is paused:

Debug Menu 1

Press Up, Down, Left, Right, Y, B for the first debug menu, which contains a map select, flag editor, and a toggle to walk through anything.

Debug Menu 2

Press Down, Up, Right, Left, B, Y for the second debug menu, which contains a sound test, memory editor, and memory viewer.
