Based on the book series of the same name, Runelords is an RPG that was planned by Kemco around the same time as the Game Boy Color Daikatana. A June 2000 IGN article noted that "Kemco has been working on Runelords (and Daikatana) forever" and that "while Daikatana really impressed us, Runelords was a whole other story".
The final ROM of the game, along with the unreleased US version of Daikatana, were discovered among the September 2020 lot check leaks.
