Regional Differences
Japan (Japanese mode) | Japan (English mode) | Europe |
---|---|---|
The copyright information is changed in the European version, discarding the Sunsoft logo for plain text reading "REPROGRAMMED BY SUNSOFT". Interestingly, if the Japanese version is played on a North American or European/Australian system, "LICENSED BY SEGA ENTERPRISES LTD." is added beneath the copyright information. All versions of the Sega Genesis Mini use the Japanese version set to English mode for non-Asian languages.
Script Changes
The Japanese version displays the text on the intro and ending sequences in English if it is played on a North American or European/Austalian system. This script was rewritten in the European version to bowdlerise words such as "corpse", "slaughter" and "murder", and correct some grammatical mistakes, though it introduces a few errors of its own. Additionally, most commas are not followed with a space in the European script.
