Used?

http://gamesource.groups.yahoo.com/group/gbadev/message/4139 Apparently Coded by Kawasedo is used? Someone will need to confirm - Andlabs 13:01, 18 August 2012 (EDT)

Anti-Piracy?

When you insert cartridges into the Game Boy Advance that have dirty pins or are inserted incorrectly, the Nintendo logo will be a glitched garble. I this a form of Anti-piracy?--Chpexo 21:08, 1 June 2013 (EDT)

GB/GBC/GBA BIOSes read the logo from the cartridge. It was originally anti-unlicensed games; not sure why they kept it on the GBA, but it's nothing - Andlabs 21:13, 1 June 2013 (EDT)
I was really hoping that this would be here, as I was talking with shinyquagsire earlier today regarding his effort to dump the Wireless Adapter's ROM. I had peeled through said ROM to see if there were any credits that would perhaps allude to the "Coded by Kawasedo" message in the GBA boostrap ROM. It seems though that this code actually is used for the most part. Here's an IRC log:
[01:00.50] <+shinyquagsire> Team_Fail: Did you see my wireless adapter dump?
[01:00.56] <Team_Fail> nope, not yet
[01:00.58] <Team_Fail> got one?
[01:01.08] <+shinyquagsire> http://douevenknow.us/post/132200462733/dumping-the-gba-wireless-adapter-firmware
[01:01.17] <+shinyquagsire> bottom of the post is the binaries
[01:03.35] <Team_Fail> shinyquagsire: oh noice
[01:04.29] <+shinyquagsire> it does seem to emulate somewhat
[01:05.05] <+shinyquagsire> the original binary though has a loop which it gets stuck in outside of actual multiboot
[01:05.28] <Team_Fail> kinda sad that there aren't any credits in there like the AGB BIOS has
[01:05.35] <Team_Fail> that would have been really cool to see
[01:05.48] <+shinyquagsire> you mean the // Coded by Kasegawa ?
[01:05.52] <Team_Fail> yeah
[01:06.01] <+shinyquagsire> those are the multiboot keys, lol
[01:06.35] <+shinyquagsire> "// C" is for normal, "oded" is multi, and " by " is for joybus
[01:07.27] <+shinyquagsire> and I think the rest is used for encryption one way or another
[01:08.21] <+shinyquagsire> oh wait I was wrong, it was // Coded by Kawasedo
[01:09.36] <+shinyquagsire> "sedo" is the constant key, so the only unused part is "Kawa"
Thought I'd post this as a followup on this. He might add this himself though, I'll leave that up to him since he has a bit more knowings on how it works than I do. Take of this what you will. --Team Fail (talk) 16:23, 30 October 2015 (EDT)

Category:Game Boy Advance games

Why do we need the category tag if system=Game Boy Advance is already in the Bob? --AquaBat (talk) 18:14, 18 September 2013 (EDT)

I'm pretty sure it's there to keep the page from getting sorted alphabetically (note the space after the category). --BMF54123 (talk) 18:18, 18 September 2013 (EDT)
Oh, I see. Sorry for removing it. --AquaBat (talk) 18:32, 18 September 2013 (EDT)

Page Title

I was going to move this to just Game Boy Advance to be consistent with the other consoles (who just have a page for themselves and not a separate page for their BIOS), but that page already redirects here and I don't seem able to delete it. Thoughts? (talk) 15:01, 30 November 2015 (EST)

Secret Boot Screen Pause

pressing the start and select button simultaneously at the gameboy logo will (A. cause the nintendo logo to disappear) and (B. pause the boot up till you press them again) i cant find this any where else which surprises me considering it's (A. the gameboy freaking advance), and (B. its been over 1 and a half decade since it released), and (C. it's such a simple button combination). The preceding unsigned comment was added by Shadowninja938 (talk • contribs) 10:34, 20 October 2017

I think that's the button combination you enter for e-Reader and/or GameCube connectivity, ergo it's not unused, ergo we don't cover it. (Remember to use four tildes "~" to sign your comments.) N. Onymous (talk) 11:44, 20 October 2017 (EDT)

Changing palettes on GB games

I've been messing around with an old GBA for a while and I've noticed that, during the boot while an original GB game is inserted, you can change the game's color palette using the D-Pad and B Button (for example, Left+B = the original 4 shades of gray). However, I'm conflicted as to whether to add it to the page. Cheats and button codes are listed in many other pages on TCRF, but does this really count? Hopefully someone with more experience on the site can tell me. --LusitaniaU20 (talk) 03:24, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

It's in the GBA's manual, so I don't necessarily consider it a secret or anything. https://www.nintendo.com/consumer/downloads/agbmanual_english.pdf ReyVGM (talk) 04:13, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
Seems to me that they're documented here already (yes, that page says GBC, but it also applies to GBA, IIRC). Luigi-San (talk) 04:36, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
