Unused / Alternate Sound Takes and Regional Differences?

I know this page is for the PlayStation version, but the Saturn version (which I think was supposed to be the primary version but ended up being less popular) contains voice clips unused in normal gameplay. See, one of the options is a bonus mode, and there's a sound and voice test in it. There are several lines you won't hear anywhere in the game, such as Mega Man saying "Metal Heroes" (the Japanese subtitle, so it was probably used there when Rockman said it), Dr. Light saying "It's up to you, Mega Man," Frost Man saying something...unintelligible (I think might be "It makes Popsicle Wave - probably either an unused animation [winning quote?] or an outtake), and there might have been a few others. I'm not sure if these are in the PlayStation version, but there's no real reason for them to remain exclusive to the Saturn version unless Capcom intended to do much more in the game. Not sure if you technically call them unused since you can hear them, but again that's only in the Saturn version so the clips are probably still in the PlayStation version.

Another thing to note is some regional differences. For some reason, the Proto Man whistle in the Japanese version sounds a lot more like it does in other games, whereas the English version changed it to sound more mellow. I think it was also in the Saturn voice test. Obviously, the Japanese version also included an entirely different opening piece that was later re-used in Super Adventure Rockman, but it also had an additional vocal track for the ending credits; the English version just gave the instrumental track a longer loop to cover up for its absence. I'm pretty sure the Japanese PlayStation version also had a bonus feature of its own, but it was just a preview of Battle & Chase and/or Super Adventure. Don't think the Japanese Saturn version had that, either. LinkTheLefty 18:48, 21 June 2012 (EDT)
