bgdat layer 0?
It's said that the NSMB2 code contains references to bgdat layer 0. However, if a file is created for that layer, objects placed on it don't show up.
There are two possibilities:
- layer 0 isn't parsed/rendered at all
- layer 0 is rendered but ends up invisible because the mask for it (to show Mario behind the layer) is missing
