Proofs

I have some confirmations/proofs for some of the sprites mentioned on this page...

spr_98_robot_0.png-1.png - Confirmed unused by Mirrawrs

spr_afinal_ref_0.png - Unused, but not particularly noteworthy.

spr_alphysface_hit_0.png - This sprite is used when Flowey initially attacks everyone during the true ending. http://i.imgur.com/hnfZuf2.png

spr_bullet_test_d_0.png-spr_bullet_test_u_1.png - These are used during Undyne's fight, despite the name.

spr_bullet_testx_arrow_0-3.png - Used again during Undyne's fight.

spr_creditsheart_0.png - Unused.

spr_doorA_0-spr_doorX_0 - Used for showing collision during debug (pressing 'V'), otherwise unused during normal play.

spr_eggcarton_pl_0-2.png - As far as I can dig, these are unused, although I would love for someone to prove me wrong.

spr_floweyface_end_11/13/15.png - Same comments as the egg carton. I can't find any reference to them, but please, prove me wrong.

spr_floweysideshock_0.png - This sprite is used for a split second at the very beginning of the game, when Toriel attacks him. http://imgur.com/3YXoIrY

spr_mettface_defeated_9.png - 9, 10, and 11 are all unused

spr_sans_sleep_0-1.png - Used in the beginning of Hotland, while Undyne is chasing you.

spr_sans_sleep_sideways_dark_0-1.png - Used in the title screen

spr_tinypomsad_0.png - Used by the other Dogi when Dogamy or Dogaressa is killed.

Yes, I found that spr_tinypomsad_0.png is used when Dogaressa is killed. If Dogamy is killed, Dogaressa gets very aggressive. Anyways, can you show a screenshot of sans sleeping sideways in the title screen? (P.S. Years after, I think some Underminers discord server members recently said that spr_sans_sleep_sideways_dark is unused, will check myself --Dobby233Liu (talk) 15:45, 23 January 2022 (UTC)

Unused (or partially unused) fonts

So Undertale will use different fonts at different points in the game, usually depending on who is talking. In game, sans will always speak in lower case Comic Sans (unless he is talking seriously ie on the date with him or if you did something specific on a neutral route, in which case he will use Sans Serif) and Papyrus will always speak in capitalized Papyrus. How Undertale stores these font is on a sprite sheet, and it will pull from the sprite sheet what letters it needs for the text that needs to be displayed and in what font (I think that's how it works). However, I found out that there is lowercase Papyrus as well as capitalized Comic Sans on these sheets as well as letters/numbers not used (most likely, too lazy to check) There are some other fonts like this, as well as some completely unused fonts (Wingdings and the text used for "MISS" when you fail to hit an enemy, to name 2). should I upload these? --xwasp (talk) 23:57, 9 April 2016 (CET)
