This amusing fantasy text adventure might be better known if it had a more distinctive title, like Amusing Fantasy Text Adventure, or Computer Game.

Anti-Piracy Measure

If disk verification fails, setting out from the castle leads immediately to a game-ending encounter, which is repurposed from the one you get upon leaving the kingdom.

Regular Game Pirated Game

Quest (Mac OS Classic) - Dragoon.png

Shortly after crossing the border into the neighboring kingdom, you are confronted by a huge Red Dragoon (and, of course, a whole company of guards).

Dragoon: Well, well. What have we here? More fodder for our dungeon vermin! Take them, men!

Suddenly a huge Red Dragoon and company appear from nowhere!

Dragoon: What's this? Software pirates? They'll make fine fodder for our dungeon vermin! Men, take them away, and be wary: they're naughty rascals!

<hit any key>

Hitting a key in the regular game leads to an image of your companions in chains and an offer to play again, but in the pirated game, it immediately reboots the computer.
