일본어판 적·녹 및 청에서는, 특정 기술(10만볼트, 누르기, 파괴광선)을 사용하면 현지화판보다 더 빠르게 화면이 반짝거린다. 이러한 변화는 아마 포켓몬스터 애니메이션 시리즈 38화 'でんのうせんしポリゴン'(덴노센시포리곤, 전뇌전사 폴리곤) 방영시 일어난 발작 사태를 없애기 위해서인 듯 하다.
