Debug Menu

On bootup, the game checks the word at $020000, which is $0000. If you change this to a non-zero value by using Pro Action Replay (PAR) code $020000:0001 or Game Genie code AEAA-EAAA, a debug mode will be enabled (memory address $FFFDD0 gets set to $8000).

Now, start the game and hold C as you press Start to pause. The debug menu will appear.

Settings

  • JUDGE - Invincibility when turned off.
  • ENDING - View ending.
  • GENESIS - Region setting?
  • STAGE - Stage select.
  • AUTO - Automatically targets and fires upon enemies.
  • BIT - Unknown, possibly unused.
  • HOT START - Reset game.

US Title Screen

Wait, what?!

If you set the system region to USA on boot, you get what is clearly a US title screen for a possible release that never happened (if it even was planned).

A Possible Theory: At the time, Treco (a Sammy imprint) had the rights to UPL's properties as UPL had gone bankrupt. For whatever reason, Treco didn't publish this game; if this was considered for publication, it was most likely passed up in favor of Task Force Harrier EX, another shoot-'em-up released around the same time and developed by UPL. The Treco logo, if it exists in the ROM, has not yet been found.

During the ending sequence, the name of the player ship will also change from "Gomorrah" to "Paladin".
