The Playstation Underground 2 disc includes a demo of A Bug's Life that plays very similarly to the final, but has it's differences.

Elementary, my dear Cactus.
This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Hmmm...
To do:
Someone see if you can use cheat codes or hacks to play other levels or access unused/beta things
This cactus is UNDER CONSTRUCTION

There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.

General Differences

  • The Traveler's Tales logo pre-render is very different from the final's; it looks like the one from the Toy Story 2 video game. There is also no sound for the logo
  • The pre-render for Disney interactive also has no sound, and looks somwhat early, as it plays too quickly, and the shine effect is purplish.
  • The title screen has no music
  • The following sound effects are different:
  • Picking seeds up*
  • Uprooting plants*
  • Getting a berry/plant powerup
  • (this is the final's sound for getting a Flick letter)
  • Grain pickup*
  • Planting a seed
  • (this is a high pitch version of the final's sound)
  • Changing a seed's type*
  • Getting hurt*
  • Death*
  • The control scheme is slightly different
  • There are no fences to be seen, making the level barren
  • The swinging vine is not present
  • There are no beetle enemies
  • The game ends if the player is idle for too long
  • The 3D model for the level 3 green plant is completely different, and notably darker.

(*The following are sound effects unique to the demo)

Glitches

If one pauses the game while looking through the telescope, the pause menu will use the "terminate bug" token's tileset, causing it to render incorrectly. This glitch is not present in the final.
