The Sega Master System port of one of the greatest arcade side-scrolling shoot-em-ups of the 80's, this port really pushes the hardware to the limit. Plenty of sprite flickering to go around.
Sound test
R-Type's sound test can be accessed on the countdown screen after the game is over.
Before the countdown ends and the game resets, enter the sequence Up, Left, Down, Right three times to access the sound test.
By default, only music can be listened to here. However, if you go to 17 Super Stage BGM and hold Button 2 and press Right on the D-pad, you can listen to sound effects from 18 to 95. Button 2 must be held when browsing sound effects, since hitting Left will take you back to 17 and Right takes you to 00 if you let go of Button 2.
