This isn't Twitter. Please use non-shit spelling, grammar and capitalization. Thanks! TheKins 06:38, 26 January 2012 (EST)

Also, please give the files you upload more descriptive names. "Default.png" is not a good filename. What we usually do is use the game's initials in the filename, to make it more obvious just what it *is*. Example: An image of a Fire Flower from Super Mario Bros. would be something like "SMB-FireFlower.png". Thanks -YK YK-sig.png 16:47, 26 January 2012 (EST)

Your recent edit to Divingkataetheweirdo's talk page strongly suggests that you're not actually doing any of this research yourself; that you're lifting it wholesale from another wiki. This is generally frowned-upon here. While we don't mind if you adapt something from another source, do not copy it word-for-word or upload files taken directly from it. As for JPGs, that's a lossy format, which makes game screenshots/graphic rips look horrible, and converting them to PNG does absolutely nothing after the fact. This may be acceptable on some sites, but here, we'd much rather have clean rips of things than horribly compressed images taken from other sources. -YK YK-sig.png 22:42, 27 January 2012 (EST)

Furthermore, you uploaded three logos, which technically do not count as title screens. These title screens have to be from the games themselves. Out of curiosity, do you have any screen capturing tools? Because if you do, I can help you out.--From: divingkataetheweirdo 14:47, 28 January 2012 (EST)

Last warning

Okay, please read this carefully and respond below (not on my user talk page) in clear, sensible English. Prefix each line of your reply with :
Your vocal defiance (at least that's what I can gather because I don't understand your replies to the actual admins) of the admins's requests for you to follow a few basic guidelines that we have set up here is getting to the last straw; if you continue this you will be banned. The information you're contributing is great and important and all, but the way you're doing it is unacceptable:

  • Don't just rip information: Everything you have put up so far has been taken from elsewhere without credit and in an unacceptable format. We don't expect everyone to come here with full knowledge about how a game works, so if you have some hidden stuff that's on another site, write it in here yourself, don't just copy it from that site here.
    • Give credit where credit is due: If you do take information from another source, source it. We have a template for that, Template:Source. Use it like this: {{source|WikiGTA}}
    • Don't rip screenshots; they rarely work: Ripping screenshots from other sites is unacceptable; these screenshots are in an unacceptable format (see below), are poor quality, and have watermarks (which is unacceptable period). If you can't take a screenshot yourself or don't know how, let us know and we can help you set it up.
  • No JPEG screenshots: JPEG is a lossy format; it's not acceptable for screenshots.
  • Box art and logos are NOT title screens: Our rules specifically say title screens (and if they don't we'll add an explicit one). Upload those; see above on taking screenshots.
  • And most important, read the guidelines.

Thanks. - Andlabs 20:11, 29 January 2012 (EST)

So just to get this straight all i need to do to keep from getting banned is basically follow the rules you put here and use the sorce template and if i cant get screenshot i can just ask any admin for screenshot help is that right??? - User:AK47Productions

Enough with the crappy JPEG nonsense

From your latest userpage edit:

*Find a program convert jpg to png.Last one I used messed up my computer.

NO. DO NOT DO THIS. The image guidelines very clearly state that JPEGs are NOT to be converted to PNGs. All that does is give you a PNG with all the crappy artifacting of the JPEG source and a huge filesize.

PLEASE read ALL the wiki rules and guidelines very thoroughly before you contribute anything else. The CoD and GTA pages are, quite honestly, some of the lowest quality pages we have on the wiki right now, and some of us just want to trash them entirely. --BMF54123 17:11, 4 February 2012 (EST)

Playable TGS versions?

I wonder if the Dead Rising 2 TGS versions were even released onto the Internet. I say this because the wiki documents whatever is available to the public, one way or another. --From: divingkataetheweirdo 19:27, 11 February 2012 (EST)

When someone leaves a message on your talk page, it's generally a better idea to leave your reply on your own talk page, instead of taking it to theirs. There's no rule "against" this here, mind you. It's just silly and leads to some seriously fragmented discussions. -YK YK-sig.png 19:46, 11 February 2012 (EST)

Tip

If you're gonna look for unused content in Brawl, use this instead. It's way better than the wikia. Supermariosomething 20:44, 2 March 2012 (EST)

There's nothing wrong with checking multiple sources for unused content. There's always the possibility that one site will have something another doesn't. --BMF54123 01:26, 3 March 2012 (EST)

Thanks for the tip but i already got most of my info from there but if you can i could use some help for getting screenshots of the unused content in Dead Rising 2.AK47Productions

RE: MW3 cut weapons

Thanks for helping with the article. As of right now, I can't exactly peer into the files for MW3 and look for files relating to the weapon(s) you removed from the article (I'm at work lol), but once I get home in a few hours, I'm gonna get my hands on a PC copy of MW3 (I have it for the XBOX 360) so I can rummage through the files. But again, thanks for helping with the article. I'm still technically new here and I'm still learning about what would be a good addition to an article and what would be a bad addition :P 404 User Not Found 17:29, 4 March 2012 (EST)

No problem in fact i was planning to do the MW3 page myself thanks for doing it for me and also for the MW3 page i heard there an unused video somewhere in the files.Happy huntingAK47Productions

I just added a huge table of unused perks that I found after Googling "call of duty modern warfare 3 unused perks". Found a result on GameFAQs and then I just organized the messy code. There are a few odd perk images on the Call of Duty Elite site (such as this "two for one" perk image of a JPG-looking number two with a face), but I'll grab those images later. As for the big list of unused perks, I'm not familiar with the coding but there is a small chance that one or more of those listed perks could potentially still be used in the coding (I don't know how the Pro perk system works. Those "unused" perks could be called on by the game engine to grant the "Pro" benefits of the perk. Who knows?). 404 User Not Found 18:12, 4 March 2012 (EST)
^--Lol, just did a second Google check to verify the info and it turns out that the list of unused perks I found was for Modern Warfare 2. So I posted the table here for someone to run through and verify which perks are unused and which aren't, then add the info to the articles. 404 User Not Found 18:31, 4 March 2012 (EST)
Here's the GameFAQs thread where I found the list. I ended up running through it and removing all the unnecessary code-y stuff. 404 User Not Found 18:35, 4 March 2012 (EST)

Here to help!

Hi there, I've noticed that you're having a bit of trouble getting on the wrong side of the mods. If you're finding it hard to follow the rules because you don't understand something, I'd be happy to help you! Is there anything they've written here that you're confused about? GlitterBerri 23:39, 5 March 2012 (EST)

First I would like to apologize for not replying sooner since i have been very busy with the Dead Island page and secondly thank you for your offer of help I may need it in the future.AK47Productions

So it's you!

You're the one who keeps forgetting proper punctuation :P Let me teach you something so I don't have to edit-stalk you and fix everything, lol.

  • There's something wrong with this sentence.

A starving man.Completely finished with a model,textures,and dialog.

  • Here's how it should look:

A starving man. Completely finished with a model, textures and dialog.

English can be a tricky language when it comes to grammatical correctness. In a typical sentence, if there are any periods or commas, you put a space after it. You don't put a space after a period if it's the last period of a sentence or paragraph.

  • And in the event of a "list", for example:

Completely finished with a model, textures, and dialog.

  • The proper way to write this would be:

Completely finished with a model, textures and dialog.

  • You remove the comma after "textures" so it says "textures and dialog".

The "list" part can get a little tricky at times, but all I ask is that you remember to put a single space after periods and commas so I don't have to follow you around and add spaces all the time :P 404 User Not Found 18:38, 25 March 2012 (EDT)

Oh, and if this is all due to a broken spacebar on your keyboard, then feel free to ignore this message. I'm not trying to be "that guy" who points out stuff like this, I'm just trying to help because I'm a helpful kind of guy :3 404 User Not Found 18:46, 25 March 2012 (EDT)

Thank you for the help 404 but my reason for the countless grammar mistakes is that the green bar that is suppose to show up when you make grammar mistakes does not show up for me for some reason.I've been trying to fix it since I was first told about my grammar on the wiki. User:AK47Productions

"Coding strings" in Call of Duty games?

How are you finding these coding strings? I ask because I'm wanting to rummage through the coding of certain Call of Duty games (such as MW3) and see what unused things I can find. As well, you wouldn't happen to know if it's at all possible to modify the game's coding itself (for Call of Duty 4 to re-enable those unused scopes; I want to try my hand at fixing the issue, that is unless a "patch" file for the issue has already been created). 404 User Not Found 05:45, 6 April 2012 (EDT)

Oh, and I should ask about "model viewers" for Call of Duty games. I've been also wanting to rummage through the models in the various recent CoD games, using the model viewer, and see what I can find. I'm going to try Googling "call of duty model viewer", but if you have any info, that would be great as well :D 404 User Not Found 05:49, 6 April 2012 (EDT)

As far as I know no patch for the scope issue has been released by IW. As for a model viewer well I am not sure where to find a high quality viewer for the COD games. Sorry if I couldn't help User:AK47Productions

Hey, don't worry about it :P I'll hit up Google for awhile and see if I can find a model viewer. If I find anything, I'll link you to it. :D 404 User Not Found 07:40, 6 April 2012 (EDT)

"Someone please shut them up!"

Nice :P I like that. Oh and no need to worry about images for things like the unused props subpage. I noticed on your userpage you have "Team Fortress 2 All I can say is... GODDAMN thats alotta work." Leave ze hard work to me, my friend. I'm currently in the process of grabbing more images. I've already got images for the unused hats/misc items, next up are images of unused props. I'm going to start image-grabbing for unused props later today (here in Ontario it's Sunday May 13th, and its around 12:33am, so I'll be heading to bed in half an hour).

As well, here's a protip, disguised as a step-by-step on how I handle bulk image uploads followed by editing the respective article to add in those images.

What I usually do when I'm doing a rather large edit to an article/subpage that will mainly be adding in a lot of images is:

  • I open two tabs up in my FireFox.
  • In my first tab, I do all the necessary editing of the article/subpage to add the galleries with all the images even though the images haven't been uploaded yet. I know what the image filenames will be beforehand, and for Team Fortress 2, I usually stick with "TF2_<item/prop/hat/etc name>.png", for example "TF2_Club.png". I don't save the changes I've made though, otherwise the page would be full of redlinks due to me not having uploaded the images at this point.
  • Once I finish all the editing, I then upload all the images one after the other in the second tab. It's tedious, of course, but I love what I do, so I'm more than glad to do it.
  • Finally, I go back to the first tab and click "Preview". Once I've run through my work and double-checked to make sure I didn't screw anything up, I click "save changes", and I'm done. Neat, eh? 404 User Not Found 00:39, 13 May 2012 (EDT)

Neat indeed well 404 if you can get TF2 done than I guess I can get to work on pages of mine such as Dead Island AK47Productions

I uploaded a replacement for the title screen using a more standard resolution. What did you capture the older titlescreen in, a netbook? That's a weird resolution. Hope you don't mind me using a more standard PC size (the recommended one, even.) // User:Foxhack 16:25, 16 May 2012 (EDT)

Thanks I didn't even know there was a default resolution. This is the first time a resolution problem has been brought to my attention. AK47Productions

By "Recommended", I meant by the system requirements for the game. They said 1024x768 so I went with that. ~~

World at War & Call of Duty 4

I've found some potentially unused, or "alpha version" multiplayer rank icons while I was ripping all the rank/prestige icons out of the game files for this MW3-playercard-style profile thing for GameBanana.com. I've got the images in Photoshop, all I have to do is transparentize them and upload them. As for CoD4, if you extract every image from the IWD files into a folder, then search "weapon" in that folder, you'll find a bunch of Create-a-Class images of each weapon with various attachments on them, such as:

  • weapon_m4carbine.iwi - Default image used ingame
  • weapon_m4carbine_acog.iwi - M4 Carbine with attached ACOG scope
  • weapon_m4carbine_m203.iwi - M4 Carbine with attached M203 Grenade Launcher
  • weapon_m4carbine_suppressor.iwi - M4 Carbine with attached Silencer
  • weapon_m4carbine_reflex.iwi - Pitch black image. A lot of weapons have "_reflex.iwi" versions that are completely blank, whereas others actually have images of the weapon with the attachment. Reflex refers to the Red Dot Sight attachment.

What this shows is that the Create-a-Class images were originally going to change based on the attachment, and show the weapon with the currently selected attachment, whereas currently the Create-a-Class image never changes. There are tons of these images and I will be creating "sheets" for each weapon containing all the different "with attachment" versions. As for why I'm telling you this, I figured it's a neat find that you should know about before I start working on the images for both finds. 404 User Not Found 16:53, 28 May 2012 (EDT)

Regarding the content on the Dead Islands article

Please, for the love of god, next time you're image-grabbing, don't just head to the closest Wiki and rip their images. I know, it may look like I've ripped some images from the Call of Duty Wikia, but I actually grabbed mine from ingame files and photoshopped the background out to transparentize them manually, one by one (a lot of work, trust me).

I just had to go revert a bunch of edits made by this Anno1404 on all the Dead Island images, where he just edited in "source: www.deadislandwiki.com" to the description of the images, and added a stupid blurb to the article itself saying "The majority of the material and pictues in this article comes from http://www.deadislandwiki.com". He also left a comment on the article's talk page, which I've responded to and already handled.

As I'll be working banned for the next few days month, do me a favour and get an admin to slap Anno1404 with a ban, either temporary or permanent, then reword any text-based content on Dead Island that you ripped from their Wiki, while I decide on whether or not to purchase Dead Island to take my own versions of the screenshots that you took from their Wiki, just to shut them up, mmk? 404 User Not Found 06:09, 4 November 2012 (EST)

Ghostbusters

I took the time to unpack the contents of my game files and I've found lots of stuff that isn't mentioned at Spook Central... or anywhere, apparently. I'm not sure if you're going to work on the article or not, but I'm pretty familiar with the PC version of the game. So I may in fact work on it after all, if you're okay with it. // Foxhack 21:38, 2 January 2013 (EST)

Talk

Thanks, actually I found the footage from the E3 trailer of Call of Duty Black Ops 2, if you are going to watch it, watch the one made by UnboxTherapy as it's the one that shows Karma in the far left in a section of the video. Also how I know that it was the Pre-Alpha version of Chloe in the "Cayman Trench" section of the video was that Colossus is set in the Cayman islands as shown in the Debriefing screen of the mission Karma in Black Ops 2. Also in the video, the Mission Karma shares the same setting on an island, and it has footage of the night club from the mission Karma. There was a cutscene in the game where Karma lets go of Harper and punches him, the same goes for the Pre-Alpha version of Karma in the E3 trailer. Also I analyzed a couple of scenes in this 6 minute long trailer that could've been scrapped from the final version of the game. Not that important though, just changes to the time of day, etc. Thanks! --Spxdes

Sound rips

When you create an article with sounds, it's recommended that you not to link to YouTube videos. You can never tell when they get taken down due to (potential) copyright issues. If you can, provide .ogg rips of these sounds. Thank you for reading this. --From: divingkataetheweirdo 22:28, 1 May 2013 (EDT)
