Translation tool and Undertale translation

Don't know for you but the translation tool is working for me, also for the Undertale translation page I think it could be cool if you could see if some of the unused text was localized in this french translation (https://undertale-fr.com/) as it seems to be the only one/considered to be the semi-official one. --FrenchOrange (talk) 14:40, 16 May 2017 (EDT)

--Ltr121312 (talk) 10:56, 17 May 2017 (EDT)

File Uploads

When you upload a file, you need to include the game title as part of it. For example, "CR bell.PNG" should be named something like "Harry-Potter-PoA-CR bell". -Ehm (talk) 22:17, 21 March 2017 (EDT)

Heh, oops, I forget sometimes. I always did something like HP2-skHarryMesh.PNG earlier. Is there a way to correct the names because I haven't found out how. --Ltr121312 (talk) 22:23, 21 March 2017 (EDT)
You can move pages to change the name. Go to a file's page, hover over "More" next to the search bar on the top right, and then click "Move". This also works for articles, if you need to rename one at some point. -Ehm (talk) 22:25, 21 March 2017 (EDT)

GIFs

Can you please not upload GIFs of animations over 1MB in size. Your recent upload of the bell animation, at 6.54MB, is over the top. as suggested on the HP3 talk page, make a video or something. -Einstein95 (talk) 08:49, 22 March 2017 (EDT)

Alright, delete it then, I'll make a video someday. --Ltr121312 (talk) 08:51, 22 March 2017 (EDT)

Chamber of Secrets (PC)

Have you looked into the debug mode of Chamber of Secrets? There's a lot of interesting stuff in there. I've poked around in there myself and I've found some weird stuff. Not sure if some of the stuff I found is already on the page or not, might need to check. Check the page for the debug mode instructions. (Also, Chamber of Secrets (PC) turned 15 today!!! November 14th) I actually haven't been able to get into the debug mode of Prisoner of Azkaban before. I could never find the correct file. If you can find the file, it works the same way as the Chamber of Secrets debug mode activation. For the first game, in some versions if you type in "harrydebugmodeon" it will work in-game. You have to type it in during the actual game though, not the title screen. I think it works on the pause screen too. If that doesn't work, just find the right file. Warning: Ghosting (noclip) in Philosopher's Stone is a bit difficult, don't try to use a spell or jump while you're in ghost mode. It will deactivate it, and if you're outside of the map, you'll fall for a second and then the game will crash. The ghost mode in Chamber of Secrets works so much better. When you enter ghost mode, everything freezes, including Harry, and you can fly around in a first person mode to anywhere you want. Then you press a button (the delete key maybe?) and Harry teleports there. Not sure if I helped at all, you might know all of this already. (but seriously though, 15 years old!!! my sister and I are going to play through it later today) (also sorry about this wall of text, hopefully I told you something useful) --Nikki (talk) 08:45, 14 November 2017 (EST)

P.S.: If you have any questions about debug stuff, feel free to ask me on my talk page (I'll most likely see it there). --Nikki (talk) 08:46, 14 November 2017 (EST)
It's nice to see people playing these obscure games again. I'm trying to speedrun the first game myself actually! I can turn on debug mode with QB's Magic Walls (a trainer program for the 3 first games). If you want to download my HP package with a bunch of these programs look here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8meVkKTbEPGeU9oSHdsZEhKakU I've actually looked quite deeply into the first 2 games, usually to locate commands and functions. I definitly knew about the classic debug functions available online, so you didn't teach me anything XD. Some stuff I never saw doccumented so I decided to do so (example here). If I can get my hands on a gamecube/ps2/xbox and the console versions of these games I'll definitely play them! --Laenthor (talk) 10:00, 14 November 2017 (EST)
The console versions aren't much to write home about, especially Chamber of Secrets. I originally played the Playstation 2 version, which was meh. I went back and played the GameCube version because I found it for $8 in a thrift store. At first I liked it a lot more, the decreased the constant sneaking sections, it looked and ran better, controlled better, less loading and faster loading... but then I noticed something. Because of all of the removed sneaking, most of the gameplay was gone. Instead of sneaking around at night, you're just running down empty corridors. The platforming is controls weirdly, the targeting isn't the best, some of the voice acting isn't that great (pretty much just Hermione, who sounds like someone doing a fake British accent). The music can glitch at some points a bit (it will randomly start over), but the music was done by Jeremy Soule, my favorite composer, who also did the Elder Scrolls 3, 4, and 5 soundtracks. The music is amazing, I love it so much. I wish it didn't glitch out at times on the GameCube. I wish that they used more appropriate music for some parts though. But that's on the game designers, not Jeremy Soule. The Skurge challenge is when I really started thinking, "I really don't like this game". The amount of broken platforming in that part is just...no. The final boss played weirdly, for whatever reason, whenever you drop Godric's Sword the epic boss music cuts off. It only plays when you have the sword. And dropping the sword will happen, no matter what. Now, Philosopher's Stone for GCN/PS2/Xbox came out in 2003, after Chamber of Secrets because they wanted to "port" it to the new consoles since they weren't ready in 2001. So what they did was lazily slap on the story of Philosopher's Stone with the same secrets and overworld of Chamber of Secrets. The first two games were released on Playstation 1 as well. I haven't played them, but I've heard they're similar to the PC versions, so I really want to get the PS1 versions. Prisoner of Azkaban for PS2/GCN/Xbox is pretty good. It improves a lot from Chamber of Secrets. The puzzles are better, controls are better, you can switch between Harry, Ron, and Hermione and each of them have individual abilities. The Gameboy Color versions of Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets are turn-based RPGs. And I love them. Your spells level up, the music is good (Jeremy Soule did all versions), looks good for the Gameboy Color... They're really good. The same can't be said for Philosopher's Stone on the Gameboy Advance. They tried to make it like the PC version (I guess), but made it a top-down puzzle-solving game. It doesn't work well. The music is okay I guess, doesn't sound the best though. The graphics are okay, the collision is awful on pits (and when you die, you have to start over from the beginning of the level. The Hagrid Hut sections make me die inside). Chamber of Secrets on the Gameboy Advance is an isometric-view port of the Playstation 2, etc. versions. And it works well. It's prettygood. For whatever reason, the music is 8-bit sounding, taken straight from the Gameboy Color version. I guess they ran out of time to re-do it for the GBA. It's good either way. Prisoner of Azkaban for GBA is REALLY good. They went back to the turn-based RPG format (since they cut off the GBC after Chamber of Secrets), and it looks so good. The sprites are super detailed and animated, the music sounds awesome for the Gameboy Advance, the battle areas are in 3-D on the GBA, the mechanics are really good, I just love it. It's more advanced than any of the Pokemon games up until X and Y. Well... That might be a stretch. The overworld maps are 3D renderings (in a similar way of the Donkey Kong Country games), and they look pretty good. As said before, the battle areas have a 3D background. I would recommend playing some of those, but the PC games are still the best versions. (wall of text deluxe extreme edition) --Nikki (talk) 11:15, 14 November 2017 (EST)
Oh eh, don't go clogging my talk page XD Still I know they litterally had 6 months to make the first game from scratch, so this explains the glitches. I want to play the console versions since someone mentionned a weird glitch showcasing some sort of debug mode in chamber of secrets on gamecube, but they haven't replied yet. If you'd like to help, I still need to make a list of all unused animations in hp3 and then make videos showcasing them. Haven't even found half yet! --Laenthor (talk) 11:51, 14 November 2017 (EST)
You can delete this afterwards if you want, and it was me who found that Gamecube debug stuff. Check my talk page, I think I replied. --Nikki (talk) 16:24, 14 November 2017 (EST)
Ah ok, your signature didn't change, so I thought you were a different person. November/December is the part of the year where I'm even less productive because all games get released around this time period. I just bought L.A Noire, Nier Automata, Mario Odyssey and Fire Emblem Warriors XD --Laenthor (talk) 13:14, 15 November 2017 (EST)

Help with Harry Potter file viewing

Hey, it's me again. I was wondering how to view models and animation from the first two Harry Potter games, because I can't seem to get it to work. The UnrealEd with the first two isn't working correctly, it isn't loading everything from the game (that or I don't know how to navigate it, I'm more familiar with UE4). Umodel always crashes when I try to view models from the first two. Umodel only views stuff from Prisoner of Azkaban. Do you know how to fix this? I know you've found ways to view these things, judging by your YouTube videos. If you can help, I'd appreciate it. --DmBd-R (talk) 12:23, 21 July 2018 (EDT)

So uh, you can view the models for HP1 and HP2 with umodel, but you have to uncheck animations. If you want to see the animations, here's a link to a tool by UnWorld that I use all the time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaAEkm50YUg --Laenthor (talk) 19:39, 21 July 2018 (EDT)
Thanks, it worked. --DmBd-R (talk) 17:01, 22 July 2018 (EDT)
And I'm back already. Animations aren't showing up in UnrealEd. Some will show a few animations in the browser, however most don't. If I go to Harry's mesh (and most other meshes), no animations show up. Keep in mind that I'm new to this, so chances are I'm missing something here. Sorry. Also, the music section doesn't play music when I select one and click play. Is mine bugged or something? --DmBd-R (talk) 17:20, 22 July 2018 (EDT)
The music is bugged in UE1 editor for some reason. You can use something called Dragon UnPacker I think. For the animations idk, I launched the program and all worked with no issues. Ask the creator of the program on youtube, he usually answers pretty quickly. --Laenthor (talk) 19:40, 23 July 2018 (EDT)
Ok, thanks. It's just kinda weird since some meshes show animation, but most don't. Plus I can view all the animations from the Editor for the third game, so idk. Thanks anyway. --DmBd-R (talk) 14:50, 24 July 2018 (EDT)

Recreating the Ford Anglia flying level/Help with UnrealEd

Now that a prototype has been leaked, and their entire Unreal Editor was included, I wonder if it is possible to remake the Ford Anglia level. Do you know if the full code for the Ford Anglia is still in the game? Also, I'm pretty new to Unreal Engine 1 (I use UE4 for my own projects). Do you think you could help me if you know anything I'm confused about? Mainly: Placing a PlayerStart; moving shapes; getting subtracting shapes to work right (they look right in engine, but not in-game, it gives me the default textured block); moving and scaling objects; just placing things in general (skyboxes, particle effects, music cues, spell targets, etc). Do you know any of this stuff? If you could help, I'd appreciate it. I want to start making my own levels, one difficult level in particular for a full HP mod I'm making where everything will be ɗɑɲk ɱ̩ɛɱ̩ɛ̯ʂ. Don't ask. --DmBd-R (talk) 09:17, 28 November 2018 (EST)

There's a Harry Potter modding discord server if you need help to get started. The community is small but friendly. --Laenthor (talk) 14:03, 28 November 2018 (EST)
OOF i dont have discord. Is there anywhere else I could look? Looking stuff up just gives me UE4 stuff. --DmBd-R (talk) 17:53, 28 November 2018 (EST)
Not really. Making a discord account takes less than 2 minutes. --Laenthor (talk) 13:27, 29 November 2018 (EST)
