In the USA version, hiraishi\builddate.dat contains what is presumably a build date, but it is in an unknown format (or the data is corrupted), so is displayed in hex on this page. It is referenced in the ARM9 binary. The file and the reference don't exist in the Japanese version. "Hiraishi" refers to Tomonori Hiraishi, one of the programmers.
