Bionic Commando (NES)
| Bionic Commando |
|---|
|
Also known as: Hitler no Fukkatsu: Top Secret (JP)
|
| To do: Document regional differences. In addition to the infamous Nazi/Badd switch, there are several level design differences (many of which were brought over to Rearmed). This is a good starting point! |
Bionic Commando is the epic tale of a soldier with a wire-hook arm who inexplicably cannot jump, on a journey to blow an undead Hitler's head off. Oh wait, the last part is only if you live in Japan...
Unused dialog
This game contains several strings of unused text, left out for one reason or another. Included with each is the address where they are stored.
2C787
HERE'S ANOTHER COMMUNICATOR FOR YOU. HURRY,TAKE IT. |
May have been from zone 15.
2D0AF
I'M CAPTAIN MACK OF THE IMPERIAL FORCE. |
2D0FF
YOU WANT TO COME INTO ROOM IN THE BACK? |
2D17C
IS THAT SO, THAT,S VERY DISAPPOINTING. |
These three strings belong to a friendly enemy soldier who appeared in the second room of Area 14, but was removed in English versions. He gave a hint on where to find his helmet, but his encounter was replaced with ten bullet canisters. Note the incorrect punctuation in the third string.
2D5D5
OUCH,IT HURTS, YOU IDIOT! |
Found among the dialog of the informant who opens the two hidden routes on the map.
2D64A
HOW COULD YOU DO SUCH A CRUEL THING? |
Might have accompanied the previous string.
2D7AD
I HAVE IT IN MY ROOM. |
This one appears among the dialog of the 'Destroyers', whom you see about the machine gun after finding Super Joe.
2D880
IF YOU CANNOT ADVANCE ON THE FLOOR TRY CEILING. |
Would probably have been used in zone 3, which had a long floor of spikes by the exit.
2E24D
NO.IS INCORRECT. |
More text of unknown use.
Regional Differences
The Japanese version contains multiple Swastika symbols all over the levels, these were changed to an original symbol in the western versions.
In Area 17, there's a soldier that you have to beat up to get some information in the Japanese version. In the western versions, he gives you the information willingly.
