Mario Bros. is released, letting way for a certain carpenter plumber to become Nintendo's most iconic character. Some really influential games such as Manic Miner and Jetpac are released for the ZX Spectrum, solidifying Matthew Smith and Ultimate Play the Game in the industry. The Family Computer and the SG-1000 are released on the same day, though the former has a bumpy start due to questionable quality. Astron Belt and Dragon's Lair become LaserDisc staples in the arcade, paving way for loads of quick time events. The video game crash begins, with the North American industry tumbling hard.
