PROTIP: When working with an electronics company to create an adapter to let your console support a new storage format, it's probably best to not dick them over. Otherwise, they tend to create their own powerful new console based on what they learned, and do a reasonable job of stamping you into the dust. And so it was with the SNES "Play Station" CD-ROM attachment, later to become the Sony PlayStation.
