In 1983, a company called Service Games had the crazy idea of making a home game console that was oddly similar hardware-wise to the MSX and ColecoVision. Unfortunately, through pure terrible luck, it launched the same day as another, more capable system, more or less sealing the SG-1000's fate from the start (though it still managed to perform decently, well above Sega's expectations).

Would later be followed up by the Mark III, or as we know it in the west, the Master System.
